after reading a lot of rishta related topics here i was surprised that how many people ask guy’s salary in rishta process, i don’t know why but it’s not common in my family. we just look for education information, if the guy has a good degree he will INSHALLAH endup with a decent job that will pay accordingly.
so i was just wondering if ur parent’s ask guy’s salary, and he said some amount, but after engagement he get layed off from the job, or changed job to less salary, do you guys break the engagement because of that issue??

I kind of agree with you. Its the income potential that matters more than the exact figure that he might be making.

I/we have been asked that by multiple families. I think it's fair to ask. Just another data point to base your decision on.

fine, but what if you lose/change the job, and salary has changed by the time of marriage. is it going to be a deal breaker??
how can they confirm the amount you told them? does people check pay slip or something?

I don’t know what they’ll do. As for confirmation, noone asked for for paystubs/W2s 
That would be absurd.
If I know someone works as lets say an entry level IT Analyst then I have an idea of how much he makes. No need for paystubs.

a good degree not necessarily translates into a good job hence into a good salary. there are people with PhD's driving taxis in Toronto...there is also so much deception going on so i would insist to see the pay stub...that will prove if what he tells is true.

*i didn't say that!...some people tend to exaggerate their earnings for for various reasons...it's better to be safe than be sorry...i've seen people lying thru the teeth. one guy was doing minimum wage job in Canada and he went back home and got a bride from a rich N decent family. they thought he was making a comfortable living...well, he wasn't and it was a flash point between the families. *

well if the guy claims to hold a professional job, how about just calling him at work? there have to be better ways than pulling paystubs and tax records.

I have to agree with KKF here about some fellow men lying about their salary. And it is also true because these men are trying to get "good" rishta. So yes, ask for pay stubs for last 6months. Heck i would give each and every detail of my job salary, reference as well as pay stubs etc. And i really don't care what they think of me. But i would rather be honest and truthful. Why deceive some larki kai ghar wallai who think they have got pappu bacha for their daughter. Sad affairs i tell you!

Now, I want to validate that the girl is as "shareef" as she/her family claims. Can I get access to her archived emails/Facebook account just to see the girl hasnt had any past flings or just "hung out" with dudes?

Pay Stub tells you more than just his salary...it also tells you how much he made to date, how much taxes he pays, how big the organization is. you won't believe how much people lie to get a good rishta back home. i did NOT mention that the guy in question was a Professional. i believe calling the employer will NOT reveal any truth. i may be a just a security guard working for IBM.

its not hard to guess anyones salary if you what exactly they have studied, where they got their education from (if they are snobbish, and dont give respect to others then dont bother wasting any time on them, cuz their education only leaded em to jahaliat), what are their future plans, what are they currently pursing, what are they wearing, estimate the time they took to get ready when meeting you/your family, also how did they accessorized themselves (brands, especially eye wears, if they wear any).
i personally think its not good to judge anyone from what car they drive.

I would never ask during the rishta process. Would I ask once I'm comfortable with my fiance? Yes.
