Leftovers from a restaurant meal may either be left behind to be thrown away by the restaurant, or taken away by the diner for later consumption. In order to take the food away, the diner may make a request for it to be packaged. The container used for such leftovers is commonly called a doggie bag or doggy bag; the name comes from the euphemistic pretense that the food will be given to the diner’s pet, rather than eaten by a person.
Doggie bags are out and foam containers are in. But the notion is still there. I ask for the containers not for doggie bags .
Do restaurants in Indo-Pak now supply those container to allow you to take your leftover food with you ?
Is it still a taboo to take your leftover food from your restaurant dine in order in Indo-Pak or things have changed ?
dunno about indo-pak but i always ask for left overs:hehe: cuz while eating out i hardly finish my food mostly cuz the serving size is huge and other reason is appetizers after having appetizers u cant eat much waise bhi and drinking alot of water or soda with food makes me feel full even if i dont eat so mostly my food remains untouched thats y doggie bags or parcels are must for me.
I always ask for my leftovers to be packaged. I am never able to finish an entire entree and for some reason.............I enjoy it so much the day after!
always.. lekin we hardly ever have doggy bags leftover when we go for indian..
there is a law here that the restaurants arent allowed to give us doggie bags. This is all due to food poisoning and other stuff. So, if people want to take their stuff home, the restaurant can provide the containers and the diners have to pack their own food..
Aren’t dogie bags use to pack your lunch heard it first time that at resturant they used to have doggie bags.Any wayz I am never able to finish my food so I always ask them to give me bag or pack my food.
I guess since the portion in Pakistan are not so big nothing is left over to be packed for you to take home.
I remember that at nihari houses , if the waiter will see that you have some naan left over and your nihari is all finished he will take your plate and get some extra nihri from the chef for you in hope of getting some tip from you.
They call it graby/grabee there.
I like to keep little disposible food pack containers in my car all the time ...
coz i travel alot in my job ... and often am forced to eat out ...
no matter how little the food is left , I always pack it and take it with me ...
infact I always eat out at this desi restaurant .. and they find me wierd when i pack food that is no more then two or three morsels !
I cant waste food ... every little matters ... :@:
This is what most people say and do ... but what they dont realize is that , the food that gets thrown in the bin , they will be held accountable for it on the day of judgement....
and as per one hadees , we should even lick the fingers for reason that we dont know which food particle held the rizk blessings for us ....
since we dont eat anymore using our hands , the above hadees does tell us the importance of blessing hidden in every little particle of food ...
so no matter how little it is , take it with you and remember that in a few more decades your next generations will be fighting wars for every little bit of food...
I didn't know if it was a taboo to ask for doggie bag/container in India or Pakistan
lol - They don't give you too much to begin with. so there is no question about left overs.
Here you get more because they set a price for profit - and you have to "eat" more because they end up giving you more, so they can charge more, for the $ake of profit :(
do you understand all the "more" points here ? lol
