Do you ask for doggie bags ?

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

When I eat there are not left overs!!!!

:cb:

yup that was my dad!

*Oh LORD! I get doggie bags FOR THE CHILDREN IN PALESTINE I TELL YOU!

Seriously though, I'm paying for it, I'll doggie bag it if I want to! Not for half a plate of saalan or one single kabab though, that's for sure.*

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

Sometimes I do get it to go but honestly it sometimes doesnt feel worth it, esp when i have a 1.5-2 hour train ride to look forward to.. carrying food that can easily spill otu and make a mess is no fun.

I have never heard of it being a "Taboo" in pakistan to ask for it to go. Have heard the term doggie bag but never used it, always say "can i get this to go?"

Doggie bag was used not anymore.. at least where i go. Yes in Pakistan every restaurant can pack your left over food.

This was never a taboo in Pak, as far as i know.. Even when i was young and go out with family, MOM-Dad always ask for pack the left over...

Such hypocrisy :omg:

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

where is the hypocrisy?

i personally try my best to avoid wasting any real food, especially groceries and food i make at home. but i wont eat up everything on my plate at restaurants, or brownbag it just because it is there even after i am full.

at restaurants in india, there is no point leaving food on the plate when you leave. it will show up as "fresh" food for the next guy who walks in.

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

^eewwwwww

On one hand, saving even a morsel of food (okay that in itself is perfectly fine)
but then equating tipping = bribery = haram kamai as an excuse to not tip?
i think its hypocrisy.

Queer , why are you responding the the attacks on me dude? they will think you and I are the same person :asa:

Right , Sara, let me get even with you now :cb:

hipocrisy is a huge word darling … I save food for my own religious reasons .. you dont believe in saving that , fine throw away as much as you want … we are all answerable for our own deeds , thank god for that..

so why is tipping another form of bribery? coz my dear, you are putting them in the habit of extra kamai on top of their earnings .. the tipping should come as a bonus from their employers to them , not from you directly to them !

an example , if you work in an office then try this , get one of your clients to give you a perfume or something as a tip for your dedicated work … and then watch your boss blow up , coz they will not let that happen as you are part of the company not a brand of your own etc etc … this is a gross misconduct in some companies … … on the other hand , if the client comes up to your boss and says she is really good at her job and we are happy with the service we were provided , your boss might as well offer you a performance bonus …

thats the difference .. I can go on and on … but ofcourse it will be influenced by islamic principles … which i am not very sure , the westernised bunch will be ready to hear anymore :hmmm:

**I did say that saving food is perfectly alright. Someone doesnt know how to read :@:

**Tipping = bribery = stinginess. I don’t think our religion encourages that does it?

I won’t go on and on b/c i’ve made my point very simply. But of course the “I-am-so-much-better-than-you/I-am-so-good-and-Islamic-and-you-are-just-westerners” bunch won’t be ready to listen and comprehend. :@:
**

Wrong again Sara, I think you have just stated your opinion , like all the rest of us …

The only difference is , you chose to use harsh and strong words to attack on one person’s opinion rather then stating your own !

May Allah guide us all to the right path and keep all the muslims united in faith.

She saves food and she saves money. How is it hypocrisy. Saving is good trait. :snooty:

Thanks Mirch , I was starting to think I am the wierd one here ..:cb:

Not a weird one but odd though. Because you think tip to waiter is equivalent to bribe given to a government officer. :cb:
You have the right to do whatever the heck you want with your money. Save it , tip it , spend it , put it in a sock or under the mattress.

:cb:

There was a similar conversation on another forum a few months back about giving money to the beggars .. some felt they give it as a form or charity … others said , charity has a proper channel but if we just give the money to the beggars , begging will become a vice in the society…

its all about principles really .. some things seem little but become a vice and a pain in their enormity… I feel the same could be applied to the tipping business …

I must mention though , whenever I feel touched by a person’s good service , I ensure I mention that person’s name to the highest manager in that place … and always tell them that I will be recomending their business to everyone in my social circle…

**the effect of that is , the manager comes to know of the employee’s good work and will keep them in mind for better options within the business … **
Most business managers will always be happy to pay a higher salary or give performance bonus to keep their best staff onboard…

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

1-Tip is not bribe or charity!!!!!!!
2-respect food = make best use of it, penalty of poor ppl out there who are not well fed.
3-(way its implimented) Islam has screwed us ALL even uneducated man knows to respect "food"
YET NO word on respect of human!!!!

GUESS WHAT

Subject of quran is "man kind" there is nothing more important then that!!!!!!!

PlayStation::Its sad to see we have our "own code" for saving food/energy , yet we look at west for examples of respecting human.

harsh words or a slightly smug superior attitude towards everyone else, tis all the same :@:

Re: Do you ask for doggie bags ?

I remeber my cousin at McDonald’s, she said:

“I want this for parcel” :rotfl:

The woman at the counter gave her a weird look
