Depending on the girl, the weight of the ring or the size of the diamond may matter. lol

it may matter ...for me it is not the size of the diamond ..i would actually feel weird wearing this big expensive rock- it is just unnecessary in my opinion. What matters more for me is style. Different styles suit different women...some look good in gold, some prefer platinum, the shape of the diamond, stuff like that.

I cared in the beginning, but my husband got it all wrong except for the platinum and he surprised me. I was just so touched that he chose it himself that I happily kept it :D

When we got married my husband got me a simple small diamond ring because he couldn't afford a big rock and with the years I've gotten more expensive jewelry gifts yet I cherish the ring the most and wear it all the time.

i never had an engagement but got a band at nikah and a matching ring on wedding night. both are simple, small and pretty.
both were picked entirely by him ... my only input had been to remind him to go for something that wouldn't snag on fabrics or gloves. he listened ... so i am able to wear both rings daily

I am not used to wearing rings, but when I'm engaged/married, I would like to wear one as to me it's not just a ring but actually symbolizes something greater. I don't want it to be too bling-bling cuz that's not me however every girl is different and you really should try to find out what your significant other prefers.
