i never had an engagement but got a band at nikah and a matching ring on wedding night. both are simple, small and pretty. both were picked entirely by him ... my only input had been to remind him to go for something that wouldn't snag on fabrics or gloves. he listened ... so i am able to wear both rings daily

Will all the hype around rings, I'm sure most girls do give rings importance. If not an expensive big diamond bling, something small would be nice as well. For myself, I would rather get a nice diamond ring OR a nice traditional ring made by a Pakistani jeweler! I loveeee wearing rings and alhamdullilah my mom has gifted me many so even if my husband doesn't, I would nt too disappointed :D

I love bling and that's what I got alhamdulillah and love and wear daily, so yeah. I guess I'm in the minority here :p
