Because in Islam the best place for a woman is her home. It says in the quran stay in your homes. Why should she work when her husband is providing? Why should she work with non mahrams? Why should she neglect her family? When Islamically this is her duty.

I think you’re manipulating Islam to suit yourself. Our religion does not stop a woman from working or being successful or educated. There are conditions, sure. But there are conditions for a man to respect also. She can demand anything she wants from you…Islamically of course. If you want her to stay home, I hope you understand that she isn’t obligated to live in a joint family system, take care of your parents or even live with them. She can demand separate accommodations, hired help, and you’d be obligated to provide all of it because Islam says this is your best place. Islamically she has much more power than you seem to think. Limiting a woman in this day and age is not wise.

The people who shout the loudest about women not allowed to work also seem to have the biggest problem with male teachers for girls and male docs looking up women’s thingamajigs.

Yup. I hope the OP is willing to find a male doctor for his wife…because in the world he lives in…women don’t work.
