Do we have to wear red?

I think Pakistanis rely too much on Indian culture. Red is traditionally an Indian/Hindu colour to wear for weddings, and Pakistanis just picked it up and now call it their own tradition. I have chosen my wedding lengha, and its not going to be red, just because that is my personal preference. Im going to wear pink. But Im also lucky because my mom hates red (her own wedding lengha was shocking pink), so I didnt have any pressure from her to choose a red lengha.

I totally agree, i was gonna say the same thing, except I wanna wear green on my wedding day. Green was prophet Mohammad's (SAW) favourite colour. And I think a emeraldy green with gold will look stunning...

On another note, the hate mostly stems from a picture of me at my 8th birtday wearing blood red lipstick.....yes I was 8. *shudders*

Someone I know wore blue/tourqoise on her Baraat and red on valima. Red on valima looked stupid.

I know many people go with colors other than red on their Baraat. I don't think it would be an issue (as long as you don't wear red on Valima).

I love the new fashion of a two colored lehnga, like golden and red, or pink and yellow. Very pretty if done tasetfully.
