Do u think india is stealing our talent?

I am not being a hater here but i was just thinking that , ke all our cool artists are moving across the border for fame/money or for whatever reasons ( i dont care). People like Rahat fateh ali khan, atif aslam and even people like shehzad roy and ali zafar and inclined to work with Indian directors .I was getting a feeling that some what we will be left with nothing in near future if all our coolest people start becoming stars of Indian industry.

There was a time we felt proud over Ali Azmat, Nusrat fateh Ali and other awesome celebrities we had but now it just feels like no doubt these musicians/actors have their roots from Pakistan but they have been singing/acting in Indian compositions where most of the credit goes to indian individials hence gives me less reasons to be proud over. Are my feelings right?

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

i don't know dost, but some of your singers have incredible voices, even if atif aslam isn't' a trained singer, his voice is just so raw and sweet to listen to, rahat fatah ali khan has a sexy voice too

there's just something beautiful and sweet about pakistani voices......let's just say india's "borrowing" pakistani singers, not stealing :p :)

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

^ thanks for admiring:D

but ever since they have started working in indian industry they havent released a personal music album which i think is leaving us with less products of our own.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

I don't think we can call moving of talent 'stealing talent'.

The real theft is when they copy our songs and stuff.

And copying from Hollywood is also one of their thefts which happens on a much bigger scale.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

I would say that this talent is actually being tricky. They are using "india's" platform to let the world know about Pakistan.

You gotta admit that pakistan's entertainment is not an industry AT ALL. It is obvious. Compare the success of these singers as long as they were in pakistan and when they moved to india

  • Nazia Hassan
  • Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
  • Junoon
  • Strings
  • Atif
  • Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

The world embrace them as if they are legend of today's music industry.

India is not stealing .. they are letting them to use a proper platform to portray them selves.

Funny story:
Columbia Records when approached Strings for their song to be added as OST for Spider Man 2, they didn't know that it is a pakistani band. They thought Strings is an indian band.

i don’t think any other singer’s voice would’ve been able to express the pain that the lyrics of this song are trying to convey. i’m just obsessed with this song, don’t ever get sick of it :frowning:

Dude its like Canadians, Australians and British actors and singers moving to America to work in Hollywood.

People go where they have opportunity to work and maximize their revenues.

Its simple economics.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

Money attracts talent . Like we can't blame America or UK or Saudi for hiring out engineers and doctors . Of course they pay them well , so they have all the right to go there and live a happier life .

why are they cool?? just b/c they can sing??
There are other reasons besides money/fame. A lot of people in Pakistan don't respect that career: singing, dancing, acting etc

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

Art and talent has no boundaries.

explained it completely and concisely !

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

Same thing for Canadians going into hollywood. Canada doesn't have a proper film industry just like Pakistan. Canadian celebrities like Ryan Gosling, Pamela Anderson, Seth Rogen etc would not have been known today if it wasn't for them going down to the states.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

I would rather have Pakistani Artists working in India and making money, than Indians stealing their songs without giving any kind of acknowledgment or credits to them.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

What the hypocritical creep said.

Once the famous Pakistani Folk singer Tufail niyazi said and i quote his exact words

'' I cant understand - once we cross the wagha border , we become BhaGwan and when we return back - we are kanjars ''.

The day Pakistani society will stop treating these artists as KanjaRs - you wont see it happening .

As a pure and devoted artist is more up for respect rather than money ..

agree with most of above, i also think that pakistan is not interested in promoting its own talent, its always banning this or that, i mean banning ali zafars film, for **** sake, get over urselves, stop banning/whining about its own artists and calling them names, when the same people become famous in india, suddenly pakistans interested.if my own country banned my film, or didnt promote me, of course i would go elsewhere.

its ok for our dads and grandads to come over to the uk/usa, to work, but when pakis go to india its stealing.....

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

Pakistan's music talent is just amazing. I am always amazed to learn about a new Pakistan singer, the best thing is that unlike their indian counterparts, Pakistan music has substance, its not about sex and skin.

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

yeh.. having seen how even educated people on GS think of artists as "kaanjar kay aulaad", is it any wonder these people go to audiences that don't think of them as being prostitutes?

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

Look at the bright side. their void is unearthing more talent :)

Re: Do u think india is stealing our talent?

I dont mind if real pakistani talent gets appreciated in India but I do mind when indians treat people like Hasan Jehangir and now Adnan Sami as real talent. WTH man ..

Now about other artsist, one thing is sure that when it comes to music composition, indian music composers are far more better than their pakistani counterparts and that is where the magic happens. They pick a non-appreciated singer like Reshma and make her legendary by composing a song for her that only she can sing. We lack that skill set in Pakistan and biggest reason is because every person is a one man show (or wants to be a one man show) in our country. Rahat Fateh Ali may be a good singer but he is not a good poet or good music composer. When he tries to be all in one, he creates a low quality music. When he works in India, they hire a stand alone musician and a stand alone lyricist to work with his voice and that is where you get great songs.

My 2 cents.
