Read what i said carefully. Did i ever said it's acceptable?
I'll teach my kids to do the right and acceptable thing. Just because I sin doesnt mean I want them to sin as well. But we are human and we sin.
Signed,
Evil.
Have i misunderstood u here? Maybe.
I have got Spock's and Mirch's zabiya / zabiha stuff in my mind and thought u followed the same advice, that meat not specifically halal (but not pork) u can eat if its not locally available. Thats what i meant as acceptable.
Yes, we r all human and we all sin, but if a person BELIEVES in a ruling given to them by a religious scholar, then their intention in following that ruling is not in sinning.
So i was confused as to why u wouldn't want your kids to do that if (to u) it was an acceptable religious judgement from a learned local imam.
So maybe u don't follow that in your area. I don't know.
Then why they were becoming so emotional when someone mentioned about eating haram food as a sin?
Because you were sort of implying that they did. Trust me, no one likes being called a 'lesser' Muslim or worse, a kafir, directly or indirectly. I am sure Allah doesnt like that either.
[note] I am moving this thread to religion forum since it has nothing to do with cuisines or household affairs. If you want to continue to debate about it then feel free to do so there. [/note]

I don't really care what people eat and why...seriously.
My post was just an angry response to Sara516's post that she wrote in mahi's response, who were only stating her opinion.
III. Method of slaughtering animals: As to this issue, the fact that
chicken are slaughtered by electric machines and not manually is not a
reason not to make them Zabiha. In Saudi Arabia, where the largest
poultry farms in the world exist, chicken are also slaughtered by
electrical machines and an Allahu Akbar tape is played allowed to deal
with the issue of mass slaughtering which is no longer practical to be
done manually. Therefore, the method itself on its own is not the issue.
We hope this answer satisfies your needs and clarifies the issue in more
details. Thank you for asking and God knows best.
What kind of reasoning is that? Only because Saudis do it this way so that makes it acceptable.
I don't think we need any fatwa because it's clear in the Qur'an..
Hence, eat not of that over which God's name has not been pronounced: for this would be sinful conduct indeed. (Qur'an 6:121) Translation by Muhammad Asad.
Now a days it has become a fashion to call each other kafir.
eating non halal food is not allowed in Islam. why are we guys debating over it.
Sir, i didn't start this so ppl could call eachother kafir or non-kafir.
I want to see what other people do when it comes to eating halal / zabiha / non-zabiha, whatever (im still trying to learn!), because I realise that other places in this world r not like the little bubble that I live in, and others may not shop for meat / dine out according to the same criteria that I follow.
Lusi, do u mean zabiha halal meat, and non-zabiha halal meat? Please can u explain the terms for me, thanks.
Yes! Halal meat is any meat that we are allowed to eat i.e. chicken, goat, lamb, etc.
Zabiha and non zabiha refers to the way of slaughtering the animal.
Anyway, I see that in this thread people are confusing zabiha and non zabiha term with halal and non halal term. All these people who are saying they eat non halal outside basically mean they eat non zabiha meat which is basically halal meat to eat (chicken, lamb, beef).
