You only need one upset, only one upset to be knocked out of the cup. Is this fair. In NFL, or in NBA, there are more regular season games, than playoffs(super 8s). So theres no chance of one upset screwing up everything. Shouldn’t everyone be allowed to play super 12 or something. Then play multiple times with each other. This would be more fair. And it wud prevent teams like ireland, bangladesh, or kenya last time to mess up everything.

It's not one upset. And it's not unfair. In fact, it has made sure that all matches are meaningful. Pakistan is not out because it lost to Ireland. It's out becuase it failed to win at least two matches, and ON TOP of that, Ireland and Zimbabwe tied. Dont' be a sore loser.

Its not the fault of the format, more of overhyped teams like Pakistan and India.
BD is not a minnow, they have beaten quite a few test teams before as well.

I actually do think there is something wrong with the WC format...not so much in the context of India-BD match though but more from the Pak-Ireland game angle.
Let's face it...there is huge scope for tukka in ODIs. Yes, Pak team performed badly today....but if the same Pak team were to play Ireland each day everyday of next week...Pak would probably win every game.
But now as we see, it can take just one tukka by a minnow for a Big League team (eg Pakistan) to exit the World Cup. This simply does not seem right. Yes, Pak also lost to WI...but what I am saying is that the format should be such that it should not be so easy for a minnow to get into the Super 8...by a solitary tukka performace.

Yes the format is faulty. because it is designed to maximize the number of games between the so called top 8s. thats why there are so many games in super 8 and not enough in the first round. WC should be designed in a way so there would be more chances of errors in the first round and the margin of errors should shrink as we move up. in the current format margin of error in super 8 is bigger than in 1st round, it should be the other way.
