Salamvalekum
I was arguing with my friend who says that our Peer and the Walis cannot talk, which is against the truth. As in Surah Baqarah Verse 154 [FONT=Times New Roman]
“And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah, “They are dead.”
Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not”. This verse explains the our Shaikhs and our Imaams are alive. But my friend argued that once ur dead how can you be alive. Can you throw more light on it.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
what do they say about it?
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
personally i spend a lot of my time hoping they dont talk, or atleast not to me.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
Quran 35:22
*Nor are the living equal with the dead. Lo! Allah maketh whom He will to hear. Thou canst not hear those who are in the graves. *

Re: Do the dead talk or not.
they don't talk because they are dead and dead don't talk or hear. people who belive that they can hear they do shirk and allah will forgive evrything expect shirk.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
while I dont agree with the dead talking bit, this thing about it being shirk, for the millionth time seems pretty silly.
Shirk is either considering someone else to be Allah or attributing features of Allah to someone. Since they are merely saying they talk/listen clearly theyre not making them Allah. Nor is talking a feature exclusive to Allah. If the only issue is that they're dead and still talk, then being dead is a property than cannot be associated with Allah.
So how is it shirk?
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
but in Pakistan these people who belive that dead people are alive, they go to their geave yards and pray to them. they ask them for things like babies. you should belive in one god but sunnies go todifferent graves for different things.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
so you agree that just believing the dead to be capable of listening or hearing is not shirk? leaving aside the question of asking them for babies for a sec.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
These types of shirks are minor.........major shirk is associating partners with Allah and Allah will not forgive that.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
Salam Yasin,
And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not. (Quran 2:154)
Verse 2:154 is telling us not to call those who are killed in the sake of Allah that they are dead; they are alive, but we cannot not perceive.
They will say: "Ah! Woe unto us! Who hath raised us up from our beds of repose?"... (A voice will say "This is what (Allah) Most Gracious had promised. And true was the word of the messengers!" (Quran 36:52)
Verse 36:52 gives extra bit of information 'that Death is like a sleep until the judement day'.
Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord. (Quran 3:169)
Verse 3:169 is telling us, 'However, those who lay their lives in the cause of Allah, find themselves instantly in a state of bliss of the afterlife. And they get honourable provision form the Sustainer.
Finally if you dont like or agree with the above, I’m sorry I can’t help it because the verses are said by Allah and they are very clear in the Arabic Quran.
cheers!
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
The shuhda's life is different from our lives.........In ayahs you mention where does it say that they hear or talk or they live like us.

THE DEAD PEOPLE DO NOT TALK
If they are different as u mentioned, then they must be aliens.
From quran we know all the prohpets and messengers were normal human beings. And every human being follow the same law of nature established by Allah.
cheers!
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
you are going off to the topic ............................i said thier "Life" is different from ours..............
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
Hareem,
Prophet Ibrahim went looking for Allah, prophet Mohammed went seeking Allah. Only after that they were the choosen ones.
If Allah is telling us that these prophet were normal human being as we are. Then it must be, also when we read about their life, we find they faced the good and bad times.
Please elaborate on how the lifes of ppl you talking about were different. Who are these people, be specifc on point.
cheers!
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
All I'm saying is that Life after death is Different to our life.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
what do u mean ‘sunnies’,…u do understand u have just generalised ur statement 2 include millions of ppl,…i am a Sunni too but no, i do not pray @ graves 4 babies,…
and i am sure 99.9% of ‘sunnies’ will agree with that
I appreciate ur views but i hope that next time you will not be so stereotypical.
Jazak Allah
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
you’r right but i think pakistani2 means some sunnis.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
Martyrs (Shaheed) are alive. We shouldn't call them dead, although they are in real. I heard this.
Re: Do the dead talk or not.
Allah Ta'ala states in the Holy Quran: "And say not of those who are slain in the Way of Allah 'They are dead'. Nay, they are living, though you perceive it not". (al-Baqarah: 154)
"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's Way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the Presence of their Lord". (al-Ale' Imraan: 169)
If the martyrs are alive in their grave, so will be the Prophets and the awliya.
