I got laid off a few months before I went on mat leave (had nothing to do with my pregnancy) because I was one of 20,000 public servants that were laid off. Had I not been laid off, I would have gone back to work when my baby turns 1. But I felt like everything happens for a reason and I just can’t see myself applying for jobs right now (she is far too young) and I don’t want to miss this time. She is only going to be a baby once. I think I will start looking for work when she is 1.5 to 2 years InshAllah.
