Do philosophical theories

ever play an important role in shaping scientific theories. Do they ever form the foundation of a scientific theory or assist the scientific discipline where the scopes of both disciplines overlap. Do philosophical theories ever make up for the lack of empirical evidence stalling the progress and formulation of a scientific theory to allow it see the daylight

And is it to cover up the predominant lack of empirical evidence in such theories, they are pushed under a sub discipline of philoshopy :the philosophy of science?

Re: Do philosophical theories

what is a philosophical theory? and what is "the philosophy of science"?

Re: Do philosophical theories

^lol exactly.

Re: Do philosophical theories

I so want to say no.
But old time scientists like copernicus and kepler did not have distinction between philosophy and proves.
I think people did what the did, they think what they thought.
Aristocrats were biologists. So this labelling is pretty recent phenomenon.

Philosophical theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, " accounts for a general philosophy or specific branch of philosophy".

Thanx monk for your reply. So what about theories relating to black holes, evolution theories etc. Empirical evidence is not there?

Re: Do philosophical theories

Well when i first started reading about universe and black matter etc… I was thinking It was stuff of next level.
But then here and there I started listening stuff.
Did you know most “advance” physics theories have not moved forward in last 50 year or so??
Yet we keep hearing stuff as some thing is happening.
Recently I read a book called “bankrupting physics” by a german physicist. You will see how much BS is going around in physics and its
theories.

About evolution, there is no single observable evidence of any species changing into other species. Its all FAITH!!!

Re: Do philosophical theories

^Yes monk. Thats it. You got it right.

Re: Do philosophical theories

wrong. there are plenty of observed cases of speciation.

Re: Do philosophical theories

how dare you? just because we have 99% same DNA as chimpanzee doesn't mean we share a common ancestor.
all the fossils don't mean anything. none of that is evidence.

Re: Do philosophical theories

:smack: You are kidding me right?

Re: Do philosophical theories

easy enough.
Tell me one specie which changed into another specie and was observed ?
if not then please say you too are a believer like us.

no

Re: Do philosophical theories

Science 'believers' are not different from religious believers in many ways.

Re: Do philosophical theories

There are a lot of scientific 'assumptions'.

People who think science is all truth and absolute live in fool's paradise.

Re: Do philosophical theories

You are welcome to share your observations and present your arguments.
btw i waited for your reply in the aliens thread.

Re: Do philosophical theories

Thousands of fossils mean nothing.
Study of human genetics showing how closely related we are to other primates mean nothing.
Our DNA sequence means nothing.
Vestigial structures mean nothing.
none of this is any evidence.
evidence is only in the Holy scriptures. forget genetics, science, biology, anthropology, and paleontology

Yes.

All assumption to try to prove evolution theory.

Re: Do philosophical theories

:frusty:

no hope here..

Re: Do philosophical theories

not a single piece of concrete evidence
and who takes bella seriously anyways. the kind of inauthentic links that she pulls out and the circular tracks she follows has dented nothing but her own credibility as a worth-taking-seriously poster

Re: Do philosophical theories

you don't, others do. inauthentic links? lol. anything that goes against your beliefs becomes inauthentic. nice.

Re: Do philosophical theories

I do. She is a highly credible poster.
