Pakistani people don't mistake me for another ethnicity but otherwise people generally think I'm from a Mediterranean country (if they don't know my name etc). So I've had Spanish, Greek/Cypriot, Sicilian... and generally from people of those respective countries. Apparently it's because of my skin tone/hair plus the way I dress.

I've had Iranian a few times.

I'm curious about the dressing part....how do you dress that makes you resemble other ethnicities?

I really have no idea. When I was doing my master's 1/3 of the class was from greece/cyprus and they all thought I was from there. When I asked them why they said it was partly because of the way I dress... which at that time was pretty standard jeans + tops (same as the English girls). The only thing I can think is that I shopped in Spanish shops like Mango?

ohhh okay, yeah same here, I don't dress any way out fo the ordinary...regular jeans/sweaters/teeshirts shoes etc but I feel like part of why I get mistaken for another ethnicity is because of the way I dress. But idk.

When I was in high school, some thought I was Hispanic. I've gotten Arab as well a few times. Mostly Indian...and then once in a while someone guesses Pakistani.

I think when I wore headscarf, most Arab women used to mistake me from being Saudi etc. However, I don’t understand the Iranian part.
haha…even in Pakistan, in Ferozsons, the guy asked me if I’m from Iran. I was like, “Wha? ”. And then my ESOL teacher, she saw my Pakistani passport and said she always thought I was Persian.

For me I’ve been told its the way I look (facewise).

Once, I was wearing a shalwar kameez and speaking Urdu on the phone to my uncle and the cab driver STILL thought I was spanish but “dressed like a desan and knows urdu”

Sadly no . That person was just ignorant. One time in class he said Pakistan is in South America. So I was like yup, you’re right, I’m Hawaiian…hahaha.

Strangely, no one has ever told me what race I seemingly belong to. Apart from a desi friend who once said I look arab with the hijab for obvious reasons lol.
