Do people marry their mother's cousins?

OK, so my mother is friends with this women who herself is married to a cousin, whose parents were cousin and whose daughter is now engaged to *her cousin. *I mean, the daughter of the woman is engaged to the her mother’s cousin. Sorry if this sounds confusing; it’s pretty messed up.

Anyways, have you guys heard of marrying your parent’s cousins? Isn’t that a little weird, marrying someone who’s like you Khala or Mamu?

Re: Do people marry their mother’s cousins?

Quite confusing

Re: Do people marry their mother’s cousins?

Let’s call the woman, A. A’s daughter is engaged to A’s cousin. lol

Also, A is herself married to a cousin. A’s parents were also cousins. A’s sisters are also married to their cousins.

Also, I forgot to mention, the guy A’s daughter is engaged to is the younger brother of the guy that A’s sister is married to!

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

cousine doesn't explain the sort of relationship islamically....you need to just tell the relation of the girl and the guy being married...

islamically anyone who is connected to you in bloodline (father's siblings, mother's siblings) are not shadi'able..

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

islamically, its allowed.

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Ya, I know, but have you ever seen this type of thing?

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

i have seen a guy marrying his cousin's grand daughter :D

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Wasn't Hazrat Ali (RA) the Prophet's (SAW) cousin? He married the Prophet's daughter Fatima (RA).

I can't recall any similar case in real life though.

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

it really depends.

i have my parents cousins-who are meant to be my khala/mamoon/phoppo/chachoo/taya etc etc but i have never considered them that since they are my age so they are like friends.

yup seen it happening in real life.

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Well if they're close in age and otherwise compatible, then its not so shocking or surprising..

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Yes....come to think of it I do know of a couple like this.
Woman is married to her mother's cousin brother.

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Ditto, my aunty had her son marry one her cousins, nothing strange about that to me, they are the same age and they love each other a lot.

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

yes

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

so let me ask you this question. If you are in love with a guy and after meeting your family, they realized that he is a distant cousin of your mom, will you say no to him?

Re: Do people marry their mother’s cousins?

icesoul in love with guys ?

Re: Do people marry their mother’s cousins?

Icesoul is a guy

Re: Do people marry their mother’s cousins?

Have you ever seen a girl in white knight armour?

Re: Do people marry their mother's cousins?

Um, I was actually talking about arranged marriages. The family I'm talking about, they constantly marry their cousins. Since the girl who is engaged now didn't have any cousins her age (all little kids), her mom got her engaged to her own cousin. And not distant, first cousin.

And yeah, I'm a guy. :)
