How do I deal with this?

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

If she is not that reponsive in her replies i think you should take her name on forum so we can know who is she then may be she will understand and accept her mistake btw OP did she did not send you the pics first so you can see the end product before dispatching.

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Dear English Lady,

So what happened was the following:

I requested a dress from this designer who seemed to be very active on gupshup. She has an active facebook page as well.

She was really responsive and fast to respond. Her price seemed to be a bit high ($270.00) for the suit I was ordering but since she was recommended by my fellow gup-shuppers, I thought it would be worth it.

I requested a grey suit with cream and silver kaam with a maroon and purple dupatta. You can see the photos below.

The designer sent me some photos when it was completed and I was surprised. The dupatta was pink and red. The suit was black. Most of all, it just didn't look like the photo. She assured me that the colors were right and it was her camera. She said that her clothes are more beautiful in person.

I thought, okay. I sent her the payment via Moneygram so I really had no choice but to wait. To her credit, she shipped it fast.

I get the suit and not only are the colors wrong but the pajama does not fit, the kaam is crooked in the front (see photos) and it looks nothing like what I requested.

When I repeatedly emailed her, she responded with the following:

"Hello Dear,

What i am saying is I use all good matirial try my best for the dress and use different type works on it to make it pretty look about the line you are talking, it is not a big issue its only one side small line not on whole dress or doing wrong line again and again....

ANYWAYS

i can do this, that about ur other outfit you want to order i less you 100$ and send u churidaar pant free of cost!!

Thanks"

Please take a look at the photos. It IS a big deal! The kaam in the front is off center and messed up! Furthermore, it looks nothing like what I requested. And a free plain churidar is a joke--it is worth almost nothing.

She is thus far refusing to do anything about this and is just asking me to place another order with her.

What should I do?

I will post the photos in the other thread since the seem to not be showing up here...

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

So I couldn’t post the photos here but I posted them here:

If you notice the front of the suit, the kaam is totally messed up.

I was willing to deal with it even if doesn’t look like the photo and the colors are totally off. But when I put it on, it is very noticeable that the kaam is messed up. The whole thing looks crooked. I like how in her photos, she tries to hide this.

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

She has not been helpful about the whole thing and has not offered anything thus far. All she wants is for me to place another order for another suit. She claims that she will give me $100 of t his second suit but the truth is that when I asked for a quote from two other vendors, their prices were $90 and $115 less than her quote anyway!

I don't understand these designers. Look, $270.00 is a lot of money, even here in the United States. I saved up this money for a suit for my sister-in-law's wedding. If this designer was nice about this whole thing, she would have gotten repeat business from me (and not to mention, my family/friends) and made more money. Instead, she's being unfair about the whole thing.

I'm so depressed and don't know what to do...It took me two months to save up that $.

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Oh and this is what she said about the crooked kaam:

"Thanks for mail me

I want to tell u,i work as like the pic....if u notice in the pic the motif showing just like in my dress!

Dear, please share this on gupshup...Bcoz i don,t think ...its only one side motif slightly diffirent...and u said refund me new dress!

Thanks"

As you may have noticed, I still haven't aired out her name. I have told her that I want to give her a chance to be fair about the whole thing. I can send the dress back and she can make me the correct one or she can give me a PARTIAl refund, at least.

She won't do either. How should I proceed?

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

o wats wrong with this dress?its gorgeous

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

yep, I see the crooked kaam :( and understand why it would depress you
If she was any fairer, she should get your outfit re-made, or reimburse all your money.

But please do let us know who she is in case she doesn't make adjustments so I never order from her

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Please look at the hem--the main big motif in the center is totally messed up and not in the center. When I put the suit on, the kaam is obviously crooked and messed up. If I am paying so much money and placing an order, is it acceptable for me to just take messed up work?

Okay, I have not gotten a response from her: the designer was Misbah from Catwalk collection or catwalk dresses. Thus far, she has not offered me anything in the way of a refund, full or partial, or a new suit. She just wants me to buy another suit from her. But tell me, would you buy another suit from her? I placed the order for the valima suit with Crystal Bracelets who offered me the suit for almost half of what Catwalk was asking for. I have not gotten the order from Crystal Bracelets yet but I will definitely not be ordering from Catwalk again. Be warned!

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Oh it's pretty obvious who it is. Im sorry that it came out so badly ! :( But from what you wanted, $270 doesn't seem OTT for that outift--if it was done properly.

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

I agree that if the outfit was correct, I would be willing to pay the full price but the truth is: the outfit is damaged and done wrong. The whole thing looks like it was done very hastily, even though I gave them over a month. I put the shirt on (since the pajama does not even fit) and showed it to two neighbors and my cousins, who all immediately noticed that it was messed up. My husband, who doesn't even notice when I get a haircut, said, "Why is that shirt look like it's moving to the left? And what's up with that weird border?"

I have not heard from Misbah for a while, although I see she took the time to update her facebook and her gupshup ad. I got a lot of emails from her asking me when my next Moneygram would be this past week. I thought she sounded really nice and responsive. I am so surprised that it turned out this way.

For people that know Catwalk, can you give me advice on how to proceed? What should I do?

When you send money abroad

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

How did you realize who it is? Is this something she does regularly?

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Hi,

This is a difficult one, before I continued reading posts, I just read your first post and checked out the pictures.

Yea, the kaam is crooked but unfortunately she is right in that it appears that way in the original. The left hand side and right hand side of the motif are different - it's not symmetrical. It's unfortunate that it wasn't translated more sympathetically but karigaars just try to copy what they see.

For the colours, it's really ambiguous what the colour of the outfit is. You did say dark surma grey but in my experience you need to be more descriptive or do more if you want an exact colour. Like send a colour swatch, or request to see the fabric before dying. However, since you did say, she should have clarified as well what shade you wanted.
What she made looks red and magenta. I agree she should have paid more attention to the shades in the picture you sent but at the same time, they are still red and purple.

And I see the other faults, like the missing red patch. And the orginal kaam is more off-white/pale gold and antique; definitely not AB finish sequins.

I know a lot of buyers say that they shouldn't have to specify this and that and it's the job of the vendor, but I always do. At the end of the day, if you were in Pakistan trying to get it made, you would have to explain all this point by point to the kaarigaars/dyers/tailors and they even then very often mess it up. Home based designers just act as a go between, so unless they have proven themselves as very efficient in translating client's desires, you have to make sure everything is well specified, so that they in turn know they have to labour these points to the people actually doing the work.

The price, about 23,000pkr seems about right for a heavy shirt and four side duputta border with motifs. If the kaam was of higher quality, it would definitely be more.

Did you check out this vendors other work before placing the order?

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! I actually did send her color samples and more detailed instructions--what you are seeing are just two photos I sent her. I emailed her a few times about the colors and the look.

If the people doing the kaam were really copying the outfit, why does the rest of the kaam look so different from the original design?

Her responses to my queries were always, "It'll look better in person" or "its just my camera." For example when I asked about the dupatta colors, she said:

thanks for mail me

yes with sleeves...attach sleeves

and its my camera effect...it is dark purple color its my camera fault which showing u pink color...

Thanks

And then she sent it to me and the colors is almost a shocking pink.

I just think the whole thing was very unfortunate.

I did check out her work and, on gupshup, it seemed good (although it is always hard to tell what work is who's). She is really highly recommended, which is why I decided to go with her...

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

Oh and I did specify that I hate AB finish and did not want it but almost all the kaaam was AB finish and glued on crystals (I even sent her a photo with an AB finish sequin and the word NO on top of it). If the whole product was not so messed up and the things fit, I wouldn't have cared about the AB finish stuff but all these things add up to an outfit I wish I could return or get redone or something.

re: Do NOT shop here!Caveat emptor/Buyer beware !

when you poated her mail is was noticeable that it was catwalk by the way of her talk.
any way in the orignal design every thing is balance its the movement of the leg forwarding that make it looks going here and there but this is logical for the vendor to pinpoint the karigars .It is indeed her fault coz the motif is the front one that moving left side and thats bad .We know that the vendors work hard yes they do but yaar otnay paisay b to lay rahoo na apni marzy kay .And saving money for the outfit every one cant afford to have lots have $$$$$ nad pounds even if they are abroad so jis kay paysay laghay hain dukh usay hi ho gha kay outfit theek nahi hay.:(
