Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

would they ever marry a english-speaking-only pakistani wife?

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

if your in the UK/USA/Canada/AUS/West where English is mostly spoken, then i guess you can get away with not speaking Urdu/Punjabi. However, if your in Pakistan then i think it’s better you know them.

do you not know any urdu/punjabi at all?

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

The husband could always teach the wife urdu or punjabi if he really wants her to speak it.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Nope, none at all. Live in the west and my family from both sides are bilingual - english and punjabi speakers so never needed to learn the language. Sad scenarios is that most other Pakistanis living here have parents/family who, despite living here many years, still don’t know how to speak english so its might be a requirement of many potential spouses that future wife speaks punjabi or urdu

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

No offence OP but your scenario is just as sad.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Of course not.

Not getting insulted by wife in Punjabi. Why even live.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

why?

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

I know basic urdu/punjabi, but I really should learn Urdu, lets be real (Crazy scenario), if there is ever a reason for me to get out of britain e.g a world war, I’ll go back to pakistan, and once I go back there, i’ll relocate to a more urbanized or peaceful area, but I’ll also want to travel, and everyone I think in pakistan knows basic urdu atleast.

As for me, I speak English at home too, so my punjabi is kinda of weak.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Thats understandable as you are originally from Pakistan (right?)

I’m guessing it will be different for British born Pakistanis

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Nah bro I’m originally from China

Yeah Pakistan lol

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

I mean you weren’t born and bred in the west.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Because the first step to losing your identity is losing your language. This may not be too important to you but I don’t think that’s the case since you are on a Pakistani forum asking what Pakistani guys prefer.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

I was born and bred in London lol, it’s my hometown.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

It was never my language to begin with and I don’t feel as if I’ve lost my identity.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Hmm ok whatever you say but you shouldn’t judge people who don’t speak fluent English either. Because just like Urdu/Punjabi was never your language to begin with apparently, English was never their first language and neither second for that matter.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

fair enough

but what do you mean ‘apparently’?

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Nothing personal, I just don’t agree with not knowing your ancestral language just because you live in a different place.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Pakistani men prefer chup chaap wives therefore language does not matter. :hehe:

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

Some Pakistani men marry english speaking angraiz so you may find a pakistani willing to marry english speaking pakistani girl.

Re: Do most pakistani men prefer urdu or punjabi speaking wives

I live in the west and although both sides of my family are also multilingual (coz lets be honest punjabi and urdu are not the same), my punjabi and urdu is fluent due to my family speaking it at home.

IMO knowing/speaking the languages is vital since it allows you to converse with a wider range of people, i.e. people in Pakistan, pakistani people in the west and of course the elders who do not have a good grasp of English.
