…has anyone ever heard this threat? I’ve heard this from a few unpleasant ‘uncles’ who have threatened their sons/daughters with ‘marry this person’ or ‘do this or I’ll divorce your mum’, and in some cases ended up with the dad divorcing the mum and not talking to any of his kids again.
I’m not saying it’s a common issue, but to what extent is this an ‘izzat’ or honour issue? And do you think this is a common thing or just randoms?

I've seen this happen but I think its mostly becoz the husbands just looking for an excuse to get a younger model

LOOLLL no man, I don’t even watch that show, sounds like I don’t need to cos of how much it gets discussed on GS.
One of my second cousin’s dad divorced his mum cos my cousin wouldn’t marry one of his cousins back home. And there’s a few people we know in nearby areas who it has happened to as well. It’s nuts really, some guys think they have the right to control their kids by scaring them and emotionally blackmailing them. It’s that same mentality which says that a divorced woman is something to be embarassed about

She needs to tip the scales in her favor. She should get a weapon (a loaded rifle should do it, the bigger the better) and then tell her kid…“Puttar if you marry this loser, I will kill your piyo on the spot.” It’s a pretty common-sense point that being a dead man is something to be scared about…more so than being a divorced woman. Sheesh, women need to wisen up.

Yes they do need to wise up, but I guess these men do it cos they know their wives are just scared rabbits and they try to scare their kids in the same way. I knew of one guy who beat his wife for years and ended up divorcing her cos their son wouldn't marry some girl from back home and give his money to his dad. Parents are living separately and both are miserable.
It's not common, but it still happens. I dunno. I guess it happens to the wives that let is happen, and the kids who don't stand up for their mums in time.
But then again, would you even want to stay married to a git like that?

I've honestly never heard of such a thing but the fact that it exists makes the humanity in me cringe. That's such an idiotic threat and and even stupider action. It's these dumb tactics and weird illogical ways of thinking which honestly have left our people in a situation where the world thinks we are all backward and imbecilic =\ Really it's a matter of empowering our women a little bit more... they have to know that they have just as much right to control the relationship and family dynamic especially if their husband is a turd.

Yes I have and the son did agree to marry his cousin - its the same idiot who is trying to mess up my life (I assume its becuase he is bored because all his own children are married and therefore feels the need to interfer). Never hated anyone so much in my life!!

Iv'e heard of one person who used the same threat "If you don't fix your ways..I'll divorce your mother, blahblahblah", I think it only happens where the kids don't stand up for their mothers and where the women are helpless and don't know they have rights. Which reminds me of a DISTANT relative back home who threatened his family like that, the wife had enough one day and literally beat the living sh**t out of her husband. True story.He never bothered her after that.
