I tell you what Islam says, and my personal opinion sits somewhat close to it. Islam says that as long as you are not bragging (confessing) about your illicit love affair to another person, and doing it discreetly and it remains a secret without more than three people learning about it with absolute certainty, then the matter is between you and your creator, and no men made law should punish you.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Homosexuality and Sex without marriage, both are not allowed in Islam. That is is the best Policy. Also homosexuality spreads AIDs and othe disreases. There is a limit to everything. There is a limit to ur independance. If u think u can do anythng and go against natural laws and nobody would stop you, CZ ITS YOUR LIFE, u are wrong.. Anything that is dangerous for society should be stoped and ur INDEPENANCE comes to an end where Ur actions start spreading evil and bad things like homosexuality…
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
They might not openly condone it but let’s be real…its happening more often than not isn’t it? The same people who date and have no issues with intimacy outside of marriage are also against homosexuality.
No, it doesn’t.
Careless and unprotected sex spreads AIDS and other diseases. Its not just gay people who have AIDS, you know that right?
Reha, I haven’t come across Muslims are that are sleeping but openly condemning homosexuality. They may be out there, and they may think zina is not as bad as homosexuality, but who’s keeping count of them? If hypocrisy is your point, it doesn’t lessen the status of the act nor its gravity. If we’re going to argue…“oh you follow this part of deen, but don’t do that”…“you have a problem with this and not with that”…it will apply to ALL of us. Most of us make contradictions, but when the ruling about something is pretty clear…in that it’s decreed a sin…we should be able to admit it instead of deflecting toward other sins.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
As far as those who think homosexuality is destroying the society, please think twice before making such statements. fine, its a sin your religion, I get it. if you consider it a sin, please feel free to not be gay. But to consider them a problem in this society is very unjust and unfair when homosexuality harms no one. In this day and age, we have some very real problems in this world, poverty, hunger, war, terrorism, corruption, theft, illiteracy and so many more horrible things which are affecting millions of people all over the globe. please tell me which of these is caused by homosexuals?
lets focus on real problems, not what 2 adults do in their bedrooms.
as far as STD, all you need is awareness and precaution. the problem is not homosexuality, the problem is lack of awareness of how disease spread and lack of proper sex education to educate people on the dangers of engaging in unprotected methods.
It’s not about judging each other. The thread is about the law of societies. France is going to punish you if you have a scarf on your head, KSA is going to punish you if you are a man, having sex with another man. There is lot of injustice happening in the world. In fact, when innocent lives are getting lost in Palestine, discussing rights of gays seems odd somewhat.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
^someone in this thread did mention how gays are harmful to society, therefore my answer was for that. lack of gay equal rights is an issue for many, and nothing wrong in bringing up this issue.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Yes they should have equal rights, what two people, adults, decide to do in their bedroom is upto them. Homosexuality has always existed, it was considered a norm, being Bi anyway, in Ancient Greek and Roman times.
Sometimes though in the West anyway they don’t help themselves. I don’t understand the point of Gay Pride marches? You’re proud to be gay, good for you. Why shove it in everyone’s’ faces? Its akin to black people having black pride marches.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t read that the Prophet Lut (pbuh) denied the gay people in his community their basic rights (to work, to eat, etc etc) though he forbade homosexuality. He warned them, but I don’t recall hearing that he responded with aggression toward them. But nevertheless, I doubt he’d pipe “support gay marriage” on a cake when he he was actively forbidding it. So, keeping this example in mind, I still think it’s wrong to coerce a person to pipe a message that they know will be used to rally a cause that is against their beliefs. Something is better than nothing. Give both groups something rather than to give one group (the religious) nothing in terms of rights at all. It is a discrimination, but coercion better? I don’t think so.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Um okay, so now you’re going to thank people who believe gays are human? Why? Is it because you think refusal to pipe “Support Gay Marriage” equates to believing that gays are not human, that they should be banished or killed? I’m beginning to wonder if the purpose of the thread is to get a count of how many Muslims believe gays should have rights and to use the results to either openly pose the question as to why they are then so averse to piping on a cake or perhaps to validate to yourself your own views about gays and Muslims. Just wonderin’.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Thank you Prince? In ur post 16 you had stated No as an answer and queried whether it was clear. I replied in the affirmative. But this post has me confused.
In post 16 your answer to the questions
Are gays abnormal was a No.
I find it difficult to reconcile that post with your latest. Maybe I misunderstood one of ur posts?
