Where do you weigh in on this?
Do they have the right to have a civil recognition of their relationship so they have access to spousal benefits like the rest of the population?
Should there be laws passed to extend protection that is currently offered to race, gender and religion to sexual orientation?
In your opinion, should gays be grouped with rapists and child molestors?
Some claim gays are against heterosexual marriage. Do you believe this claim?
Should gay behavior be punishable? What should be the appropriate punishment?
Are gays abnormal?
Please keep the discourse civil. And respect all opinions. Thanks.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
In the spirit of full disclosure, I was rightly chastised by a member that I was bringing in unrelated points in another thread. I agree. Hopefully starting a new thread will allow folks to focus on these questions.

read blue answer below
Should there be laws passed to extend protection that is currently offered to race, gender and religion to sexual orientation?
When laws are made on base of race and stuff… society has already lost.
In your opinion, should gays be grouped with rapists and child molestors?
No. Islam invented considered innocent till proven guilty,
Some claim gays are against heterosexual marriage. Do you believe this claim?
Its strange marriage was invented by straight.. for straights..
gays (when demonstrate gay behaviour), should get benefits… no need to borrow institute of marriage from straight.
Should gay behavior be punishable? What should be the appropriate punishment?
It should not be promoted.. Let them be… dont hate them… dont facilitate them.
Are gays abnormal?
abnormal thumb of* ratik roshan*

Scientists should not be scared to death suggesting if some thing is causing gayism in people.
I have read them saying gender bender for some house hold products and quickly move on.

if that’s how they want to live, it’s their prerogative. they have to answer to their God if they believe in any.
Do they have the right to have a civil recognition of their relationship so they have access to spousal benefits like the rest of the population?
in Canada, they already have the full rights at par with heterosexual couples.
Should there be laws passed to extend protection that is currently offered to race, gender and religion to sexual orientation?
**i guess so. society has already accepted them so it’s only fair to extend protection to them as other enjoy the same.
**
In your opinion, should gays be grouped with rapists and child molestors?
no, i don’t think so…there is no criminality in being a gay. being gay/lesbian is not a crime in my country.
Some claim gays are against heterosexual marriage. Do you believe this claim?**
no. i don’t think so. i know two brothers and one of them is a gay while the other one is married with kids. he likes his brother and his wife and kid. i know for a fact that he is not against heterosexual marriages. he rather supports.**
Should gay behavior be punishable? What should be the appropriate punishment?
**it’s a spiritual/religious question and none of us have that right in the eyes of the country’s constitution/laws. it’s already established that there is no criminality in being a gay/lesbian so there is no question of punishment. it’s irrelevant. **
Are gays abnormal? yes, i believe it’s not normal behaviour. no one is born a gay/lesbian [you may dispute that]. it’s an acquired way of life.

i think i was civil i hope others will be civil as well but i have my doubts.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
No, No, No, No and No
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
I have only heard this statement from one person. i have seen plenty of gay bashers, but never came across this statement from anyone before. many people view gay marriage as a ‘threat’ to traditional marriage, but that just shows how insecure they must be.
what i have heard from some liberals is that marriage shouldn’t even be a legal issue, everyone should have civil union whether gay or straight.

@ Mr. Monk
Who is Ratik?
Could you shed some light on this gender bender thingy and quickly moving on after effects?
PS. Why the cross - referencing for answer to question one with a blue font response a few questions down the road?
PS PS Why red?

yes, he has forked thumb…like four fingers and two thumbs.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Do all of Ratik ’ s fingers/thumbs get benefits? Or only the straight ones?
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
As a community I don’t see them harming us so as long as their lifestyle isn’t a threat to the general people, I say live and let live.
Only Allah can judge them and I don’t really understand how them being gay or wanting to marry affects heterosexual couples. The same rights should be extended to everyone because everyone is equal before the law.

Southie, just to answer one question of yours;
Many societies do not recognize a gay union as a legal marriage. A subset of such societies also consider extramarital relationships as a sin, and even as a crime.
In such societies, obviously, homosexuality will be a punishable crime.
Re: Do gays deserve the same rights and access to benefits as the straights?
Thanks Prince. Yes it is.
So your answer is no to all the questions.

Thanks TLK. May I ask what your position is on the law is in those societies?
