I’ve never personally come across a Bangladeshi who’s been bothered about it

Bangladeshis aren’t particularly nationalistic or tribal, they don’t tend to care about that sort of thing.. Obviously if they did they wouldn’t be giving their kids Hindu/Indian first names or nicknames, which many if not most still do nowadays.. They’re not bothered by the fact they had Hindu ancestors..

There are exceptions, especially among people from the region of Sylhet, but the name thing is a good indicator of the general mindset of the average Bangladeshi imo

I have come across lot of Bengalis but havent seen even a sinlge muslim Bengali with Hindu first name. Rather they have their own peculiar muslims names which are often compund. Like Minhajul, Shamsul etc

^My brother’s ex was called “Nisha”.. As an example that’s one VERY common name for Bengali girls..

There’s also “Sushmita”, “Preeti”, “Nipa”.. I could name a dozen more commonly used.. Christian names aren’t unusual amongst the middle and upper class either.. That solid Muslim identity which Pakistan has just isn’t there in Bangladesh.. They’re a bit of a mish-mash and don’t really care..

May be among girls, but have t seen among men any Bangladeshi Muslim with Hindu name and I have seen quite a lot of them, similarly in Bangladeshi cricket team all names are muslim names

we have good relations with Bangladesh…we have a train service between Calcutta and Dhaka…we don’t need visa i believe to visit each others country. i would like to have same relationship with Pakistan. i hope it happens soon. sooner than we all may anticipate.

do Sindhis have strong relationship with Rajasthani people? Do Urdu speaking people of Karachi have much in common culturally with the hindi speaking people of North India? Does Delhi have much in common with Lahore? Does Karachi share similarities with Mumbai apart from both being port cities?

Actually the hindu names is very true - in my university there were so many girls who I had mistaken for Hindu but they ended up being Bangladeshi Muslims. That wasn’t the case for the guys but they girls I would say definately most of them do.

^I know that she explained about her nationality due to a lot of requests but that is not why I posted the video here; my point was simple, not every Bangladeshi likes being called Indian.
