DIY Invitation Cards - Dholki, Mayoon, Mehndi

im planning to make the mayun cards at home (hand made cards) IA tryin to b a bit creative.. just wanted to have some more idea’s as what should i do..?
I don’t want those formal lines, as used on the main wedding invitation…
Planning to have a dress code too, but is there anything else i can write instead of the word dress code..?

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

At arts stores you can get all sorts of pretty papers in pretty prints and designs. It might be nice to make each invite look different.

I've pasted these pretty prints on to different shades of card stock, added ribbon, and hand-written invite info.

I'm also doing a dholki for my cousin. We're cutting out paper in the shape of a dhol and putting the info on there.

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

Have it all very colourful, BRIGHT colours esp yellow, pink, orange the colours normally used for mayun and mehndi i blv...
Sahar thts a nice idea...

Oh I love the Dhol idea... can you post picture of the invitation? if you dont mind :)

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

Sahar, i've done that dhol thing for my dholak k cards... now i'm looking for something different for the Mayun cards.
Girls some more idea's please.......

Still working on it. But sure! I will.

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

How about using material.
I have the idea in my head, not sure how it would look in reality.

But get some stiff cardboard, and get something like jamawar, cut it bigger than the size of the cardboard.

Lie the cardboard on the material and fold the edges over, glue.

So now you have one side completely covered in material and the other side with the stuck down edges of the material.

The get some card in complimenting colour, cut it smaller than the cardboard but big enough to cover the glued down edges. Write your message on it and stick in on.

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

JUST WASTAGE OF TIME AND MONEY

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

for mayoun: what about some yellowubtan in a little box.. with a yellow ribbon on it...write a short invitation and attach it to the ribbon?

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

Thankyou for the lovely idea's, but im actually lookin for the wording, i mean i don't want that typical ur cordially invited to the_____________. not on the mayun card atleast.
e.g you see on the mehndi invites, you are invited for the dhol dhamaka at the mehndi of
_.
so somethin similar ....... but different, can't think of any good lines so i thought why not ask the luvly gs grls.....

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

Write it in glitter!!

Wording really depends on who's gona read the cards. If I was writing them out and I knew they were for my friends eyes only, I would write something really rude and yet so me at the same time. Like a personal message. I cant really tell you what though as I dont know what type of person you are.

How about tiny boxes with 2 laddo's :P and print the invite on the top of the box! Tie it with gold thread and attach small bells!

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation...

Re: Ideas for the Mayun invitation…

Here are the dholki invites I made by hand.

This first photo is of the basic invite printed on card stock in teal:

The second photo is the same, with the section where the invite info is printed:

The last photo shows the backs of the invitations. Each has a different pretty printed paper. The center one was extra, so I decided to make one for the bride.

Edit: The text of the dholki invite is -
Please join (all the girl cousins)
for
a surprise dholki
in honor of
(bride’s name)
time & date
address
Formal and festive attire requested
RSVP info
