^ some scholars say the divorce is still valid but the man has acted sinfully thereby… but generally, that the woman is in a state of purity, free from her menses, is a condition unless the woman herself instigates the divorce… it is also a condition that the husband should not have had sexual relations with his wife since her last period ended as she may have fallen pregnant as a result and he may not be aware of this and perhaps it might cause him to change his mind…
