You’re right, the generalization is uncalled for. But there ARE Mullahs going around simply telling everybody they screwed up, not knowing exactly what they did wrong, and not doing squat all to help.

Now what Mullah specifically warned the people striken in the affected areas of their impending doom, and why not Lahore or Karachi where all the REAL sins are being commited? Becuase it was “God’s will”? Not good enough…why punish thousands of pious…to make a point to the impious? Where is this trend indicated in the Quran? Where has God ever done that?

Earthquakes are a sign of God’s might, no doubt. But the fact is, it’s faulty logic to compare the Tsunami, the Bam earthquake, or the one in Kashmir with those mentioned in scripture that had destroyed nations who were corrupt to the core.

YOU are just as much a sinner as the people of Kashmir were, or just as pious (take your pick)…why didn’t YOU die? Answer me that exactly…what was it YOU did that saved you? What were the Kashmiris doing that was so bad? Don’t presume they were wicked just because they happened to be the victims.

In the end, God takes whom he pleases…it’s His right. BUT there is no telling if it was His intent to PUNISH us or not…that’s not a matter of belief or not, it’s speculation at best. ALL we can say for certain is that an earthquake happened, and it just so happened people lived there. Powerful earthquakes happen every year in remote areas, so not all earthquakes are signs. Similarily, not all earthquakes in populated areas are devine punishment. In any case, we should only concern ourselves with the surviors.

The last thing these people need are people going around and implying they were “wicked” and somewhow deserved what they got.

If this was Azaab then we need to know EXACTLY what the people of Kashmir were doing that was so wrong so we can LEARN from it. What point is a warning if we can’t comprehend the sign? So…tell me…what was it?

deedawar, whatever it is. Dafa karain. I don’t see much point in arguing over it to begin with. If an imaam made such a statement, then it wasn’t very nice of him. Others do it, yes, just as bad, but they are misled. I, myself was of this opinion till I got it clarified.

I would argue that most of us agree that if such an incident did take place, then it weren’t the best comments under present circumstances.

Mr Deedawar, I respectfully ask why should I need to expain myself over and over and over again to the minutest detail when all I was looking for was comment on the views and preachings of one particular Mullah who happens to be located in a ravaged area??? And WHO are YOU to judge whether I am a liar seeking amusement in the "bashing" of some Mullah or just some person seeking the opinions of actively worshipping Muslims?

I posted the situation. I posted how I PERSONALLY felt about it. I asked for comment on how OTHERS felt about it. I was going to post my friends name, address, phone etc OR ask him to visit here but quite frankly, I'd be too worried about him if such as YOU had his personal info and pointing a disillusioned Muslim to this forum would serve only to deepen his disillusionment.

How very sad.

Mamaof3, I hope you sort of got what you were looking for, ie. the views of other Muslims & non-Muslims. There is absolutely no need for you to post the personal information of the individual you heard it from.

If your query has been answered and if you are satisfied, I would like to proceed to close this thread. Unfortunately, it seems to be more aimed at you and your credibility rather than for the purpose you initially started this thread for.

Ms Sadiya, yes, please close it. My query has NOT been answered, the only thing accomplished is a thorough bashing of my perceived intentions....and at this point, I have no hope whatsoever of actually getting a straight answer.
