I was chatting online today with a friend of the family who lives within an hour or so of Muzzafarabad. He’s a University professor, quite disillusioned with Islaam at least the “brand” of Islaam that is preached and practiced in his area. He spoke yesterday with the Mullah at his local mosque about the earthquake and here are some of the amazing things the Mullah had to say:

• The earthquake is Allah’s punishment of these people for watching cable TV. Cable TV is the root of much of the evil on the planet. He had no sympathy for the victims of the earthquake, they were sinful and deserved what they got.
• Same goes for victims of the Tsunami.
  -** Kashmir was targeted even more because there are too many Kashmiris who moved away to Kafiir places in order to become rich and lead sinful lives.**

He was extremely confident of his convictions. AND he is, according to our friend, a very typical religious leader, at least in that area.

** Scary. VERY scary. That an ignoramus such as this has influence on people.**

So where does your post say you needed advise from others what to say to this disillusioned person?

You gave your opinion in the last sentence though to feel better that you exposed some unknown person saying some unusual things as td you by some disillusiones person.

Please be truthful and admit you had alterior motives of bashing an unknown mullah and/or spreading hate among Kashmiris and non-Kashmiris.
