Dissapointed in Desi Girls

Over the years i’ve seen girls try to achieve the super skinny look, especially white women. It trully hurt me because these women were forced to have a negative image of themselves by what the media portrays,to be beautiful you have to be thin. Many women would do anything to achieve this image but they are only cheating themselves. Recently though, I have been seeing desi girls trying to achieve the super thin look! I thought desi girls were better than that, i didnt think they would conform to such a hidious idea of being super thin. Desi women are known for thier incredilbe curvy bodies and being voloptuous, western women envy us becuase we are soo porpotioned! Then i see desi girls dieting, excersicing, starving themselves and am like what are you doing?!?! There is nothing sexy about skin and bones, guys especially desi guys are appauled by super skinny women, they think it looks sickly. I spoke with many of my guy friends and have been told they would pick a healthy girl over a stick thin girl anyday. What can be attractive about a women whose bone stick out and looks like she hasnt eaten for days? When i met my fiance i was 115 lb at 5’4 i was thin but not super thin, then over 2 years i gained about a good 10 pounds that was distributed to my arms chest and legs. My fiance told be how i was always beautiful to him, but how much more attractive i look. I asked him how come you never told me to gain weight, he said he didnt want to hurt my feelings lol. My point being, skinny does not equal beauty, heathy equals beautiful, love yourselves for whatever shape you have. Never feel insecure about being not thin, guys like girls with meat on them. If you are overweight take care of yourself, your goal does not have to be skinny, just healthy. Take a look around you, most pretty girls are not really skinny but healthy.

I have never ever heard of this in my life.

What part of the country are you from?

Oh, and your fiance is a chubby chaser.

maybe you didnt read my post through the end? I dont ever say desis need to be fat, i say they should love their bodies and not strive to be "stick thin" and if you are overweight you need to take care of yourself but that does not mean aim to be skinny...

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

have you read "the beauty myth"? read it! i really cant write all of it down but if you're like me you'd probably get pissed off and fascinated by what the author is saying.... i love that book because after you read it ...its like deep down you knew this all along. its like tapping your subconscious.

to stick to the topic...ugh ....i hate what kareena kapoor's done to herself. she was sexy curvy and adorable in don. she looks emaciated now.

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

The grass is always greener on the other side, though I dont agree with the concept.

Traditionally with our parent's generation, a curvy figure was favored. I think it had something to do with showing wealth. A well fed body meant a woman had the resources to nourish herself well. Beauty was also associated with youth. A round, full face and milky skin were ideal. Western influence has changed that round face to a gaunt one with chiseled cheek bones. The typical curvy hips, stomache and chest are fertility signifiers. They're replaced with signs of independence. By being super-skinny women are declaring that they're not baby making machines. And whether they know it or not, skinny women could be risking their health.

Depends what race we are talking about, Vegetarian skinny girl would probably have wrinkle on her butt. lol
Little meat + little fat always looks good on women.

"Real Women Have Curves"

I have heard it. Pakistani/Indian women have very nice proportions and men like that. This is not to to be confused with obesity. A woman who has a nice upper and lower body is not skinny. She is curvy and voluptous. It wasnt meant to be flat people, thats a man.

Im not chubby/fat or skinny and I get compliments all the time. No, Im not bragging about myself. Simply stating that I will not conform to a magazines's idea of beauty when I like myself the way I am. I have friends who cannot fill out their clothes and I can.

Im happy. :)

lolzz

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

stature and metabolism, self esteem and self care have a lot to do, with having a great appearance. best of all things is when a good healthy education about one's body and health is known by the person, herself.

well there is difference being thin and being FIT, a physically fit person is better than a skinny and fat one. i guess only few guys like the chubby women or men, there is no point of disappointment in that.

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

To me girl with boys belly is a no no.
BTW thats very in style these day(fashion magazines)

Do you mean six pack, washboard abs? I think Madonna has created a new ideal for all women with that.

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

Madona has stronger leg so that evens it out.
BTW she hates her legs.

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

desi women have always had complexes about their bodies, probably like other women in other countries too- how can you even say its only now being seen there? please. its as bad as the desire for being fair skinned. the search for the "skinny, fair bahu" has been going on for decades now in pakistan, and being even healthier than a stick is considered a big negative over there.
society can be brutal there- they're tactless, inconsiderate, and downright rude when it comes to pointing out flaws- she's too "fat", she's saanwli, she's too tall, blah blah blah.

Re: Dissapointed in Desi Girls

^ true. unfortunately, a society does dictate the norms we follow.
