We care about mother earth … plastic disposibles are just another marketing tool to empty our pockets and hurting the planet at the same time … if we can use then more then once and throw them when absolutely needed … why not …nothing wrong with it …
well ... i dont have to become an extremist Decent ... when there is a luxury that i dont have to carry heavy bartan on picnics and get togethers ... i can throw away plates and glasses if they cant be used again ...
There is nothing wrong in being careful, we do rewash and reuse all our bartan at home dont we? and we try to be cost effective with everything else as well ... so why not with the plastics? The people who are eating in those bartan are not untouchables ... and a proper wash does indeed wash the bartan properly ....
^ may be your point of view. I use disposable products for ease of use and that includes NOT washing the products after function/gathering is over......
what about those folks that use disposables even when they have a small gathering (15 or 20 people) at home?
my pet peeve.......
sheesh.....roll your sleeves up and wash a few dishes will ya?
I agree Muzna ... in most of the homes there is a dishwasher these days .. that too saves the hassle ... but many people still prefer to use disposables at small gathering ... i have never enjoyed having food in disposables ....
nopse dont re use them and I dont buy the plastic ones for the very same reason!
disposable plates are designed for one time use only.. I wont trust the chemicals etc leaking out of the plastic if you wash them like a regular use bartan!
At our place, more than 10 people, we go disposable! Who has time to cook and clean all day and then wash dishes at the end as well? We have a dishwasher but we dont use it very often.. it's for the storage of pots and pans (desi indeed:D)
PS, my parents used to buy only Bounty brand tissue paper...but they would wash it and use it at least 3-4 times before throwing it out becuase htats how good the quality of it was.,....and I do the same thing (when I buy bounty). I absolutely cannot stand cheap tissue paper of any kind. But that's a different discussion I suppose.
gtg.....don't you find that food doesn't taste as good in disposable dishes as it does in china? why would you want to work so hard all day long to cook nice food and then do it a disservice by making people eat it in plastic plates with plastic forks and spoons?
I would much rather drink directly from a flowing garden hose than from styro-foam cups!
I've even gone to the extent of purchasing those really high-end disposables......you know the ones that are a really strong plastic and have the silver line around the edge......but everytime I consider using them I put them right back in the cupboard because at the end of the day they are plastic...
Muzna... hehe never noticed the difference.. next time I will.. and honestly we dont have too many parties anyway so probably I am not used to this setup!
girls.. I am not a great wife.. I am all for shortcuts! sad but it works :(
we use bounty as well.......but I've never washed and re-used it......I have used it to dry washed dishes before putting them away and then left the paper-towel on the counter to dry and then used it again to clean a mess and throw it out.
i think you guys mean the kitchen paper towels they are like thick tissues … I mainly use them when i am frying stuff … they absorb oil really well … and occasionally for light cleaning the dishes ( when i take the plates and cutlery out from the cupboards for the dawats )
