Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

Do you guys ever wonder why Disney cartoon characters in the fairy tales always has a ‘girl’ princess-yet-to-be, or is-one-already ALWAYS has a father, but the mother is usually DEAD. Like how twisted is that. Even in bambi… wait…yes, I can’t remember bambi’s mom…yeah I cud be wrong on this one.

However: Cindy’s mom was dead. Snow white’s mom was dead. Ariel’s was dead. Belle’s from beauty and the beast was dead :vivo: Jasmine’s from Aladdin, like wadaheck???

The classic that never ceases to amaze me is that when snow white was stuck with the little old 7 overly jolly gidy men, she never had a bed of her own, until the moment she was supposedly poisoned and dead, and lied down in a coffin. Like huh???

oh here’s a good one…

Sleeping beauty though had parents, but was put to sleep after the magic spell and that is when she was seduced by a prince in her sleep? Did that never bother u guys/gals???

Great God, I mean do we know what we are reading to our children???

Ariel had to give up her ‘entire’ fin to be with a prince
Why cudn’t the prince come and get a fin in exchange for his feet. Ok fine forget this.

But walt disney seriously seemed to be having something against mothers to be picking such examples from the ‘grim brothers’ tales that had ‘no’ mothers in it sad pout Not impressed!

Feel free to rant on whatever u always had trouble with, or do at the moment…

I’m a HUGE Disney fan! :nahi:

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

^ Me too… I lub it to death. but seriously we gotta criticize it some :halo:
I think I’m the biggest hypocrite when it comes to loving it, cuz I’d still run to the theaters like wild if any annimation comes out, but c’mon u’re saying u neverrrrrrrrrr had a problem or everrrrrrrrrrrr even gave second thought to the literature we read as little kids called “fairy tales”??? Think about it and then reflect back…what do u think? :@:

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

Lol, my sociology professor HATES Disney! She even showed us a documentary of how Disney is racist! One of their examples of racism was that in Tarzan, there were NO Africans; instead, there were only gorillas. Therefore, the Disney crew is trying to tell us that Africans are gorillas. There are also no Africans in The Jungle Book and in that story, there was an ape who 'wanted to become a man', implying that Africans aren't really men, but they want to act like them. I had never thought of it in this way. Lol, it was an interesting film!
Btw, I don't really pay attention to these 'hidden messages/meanings'...I just watch movies for fun!

I'm too engrossed to notice the "hidden" things.. love the colors, animation and witty humour! My fav character is the chershire cat from alice in the wonderland!

"Can you stand on your heaaadddd?"

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

Gina yar, I’ve haaaaaaaaaaaated alice in the wonderland. It always gave me nightmares afterwards as a kid. I was prolly 6ish when I watched it first… to this day I still haven’t seen it cuz I don’t want it to bring back not so happy memories, it’s so depressing I find.

Hmm…kashish… the jungle book had a Indian boy in it… Mooglie??? that was brought up by an elephant, was it not???

Tarzan is different from the jungle book… But we read so many stories about Tarzan in urdu too…his monkey friend used to be called Mungoo. “Tarzan aur Mungoo” ki kahani :@:
I do agree with u on the african bit, but still that story does Africa justice for portraying the english as poachers adn destroying the jungle and taking what’s not rightfully theirs.

I’ve always been fascinated with urdu fairytales… forgot what the ‘actual’ terminology was for it. But something like “Paristan ki kahaniaN” I can’t recal. They used to be sooo exciting. I even loved the boyish stories of peeps such as
Umro Ayar… and Ali baba chalees chor… those stories were pretty neat!
I wonder if anyone else remembers similar stuff???

Daringggg! I never liked alice in the wonderland just the character of the chershire cat! I can't name a fav though im the biggest fan of disney! I want to start collecting the "disney babies" they're adorable.. belle's baby, jasmine's baby..

In Paris they have a cafe and it's called "The Dark Side of Disney" where the Disney Villains serve u and the entire theme is based on Disney Villains.. super-cute! Loved it!

I am amazed at your "professor" lol!!!

"Jungle Book" is based on Rudyard Kipling's "Mowgli". And the reason that there are no africans in the movie is because the movie takes place in India!!!

Mowgli does meet up with other humans and they are Indian. He actually develops a crush on an Indian girl from a jungle village (I think thats in the sequel tho).

As for Tarzan, the whole point of the movie was that as a baby, there was a plane crash and the only survivor was a baby...baby was found by apes and raised by them. Tarzan does meet up with humans - both tribal africans and european hunters and he rejects both.

Go ahead, burst the bubble that this "Prof" is living in lol!!

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

i can totally relate to that, because i picked up on it recently while reading to my 3 yr old! she seems to get kinda upset at the idea of the princess with no mommy so i kinda edit that part out now. she recently saw 'nemo' the fish movie, excellent animation, music BUT within the first 5 mins of the movie the mommy fish dies in a rather scary run-in with a bigger fish, go figure, my 3 yr old refused to watch it beyond that point. strange plot indeed especially if its catering to the kiddy crowd, or is it?

oh and as a kid i used to wonder why all the witches in the fairytales had black hair and eyes and princesses (generally) blonde and blue-eyed, i guess as a kid i was in awe of this blonde princess figure and related more to the dark-haired witches since i shared that colouring with them lol

My neighbor always mocks poor old Cindy.. she was supposed to be the nice/shareef girl.. why did she live with 7 "na-mehram's" trust a guy to spoil everything!

I adorreee Disney!

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

Os zamany main bachon ki kahanian bachon hi ky liy hoti thin:fifa:Jis zamany main ye kahanain likhi/kahi gain thin bachy itni jinsi taleemat ki maloomat nahi rakhty thy jitny kal kal or aj kal ky bachy rakhty hain:D

Snow White...not Cinders :)

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

Daring V, you are so right in your observations girl! I think they kill all the mommies because they want us to have sympathy for those pretty girls, that they grew up without a mommy role model yet they are so tough and all.

And just by the virtue of the fact that they are fairy tales, I guess we give up our right to pure logic.

I think it’s so romantic to fly on a magic carpet with a street kid turned prince and sing a whole new world…awwww now.

So my next question is, does Bollywood get their inspiration from Disney movies? At least we know that Disney fairytales are fairytales :hmmm:

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

^Yes Aladdin not only abducted the princess ever so successfully that he being the street kid thieve get to rule the kingdom later on. Hmm… so impressed we are by these fairytales that the same stuff is happening now. Especially in the muslim states. Lets take Saudia Arabia for instance, the kings that call themselves kings, were mere goat herders, and now they call themselves the Shahs of Arabia driving the real royalties into hiding somewhere unheard of

Look at Zardari ruling Pak :vivo: A great example of Aladdin. The princess is gone, her father is also dead…executed… nice huh.

Makes u wonder sometimes, that is there a secret society, hiding within the obvious peepz, who write out the fate of the world, or how they want their secret agenda plans implemented and have the universe run by it. I’m a strong believer that there is one. Yet we the simple fools are played like flutes by their music. Think about it folks :faizy:

:salam:
I used to love disney stories !!!

& who are/were those real royalties?

Zardari, the Jabaar of Aladdin :hmmm:

^haha good one…that leaves out abu…wonder who we can name that as it? Musharaf???

Thats a googlified answer. So go ahead and do some constructive research urself :halo:

Re: Disney is warped big times, yeah!?

I think the only people that have gained from Disney and the motherless princesses are step monsters. My own was an amalgamation of Snow White's and Cinder's. I think watching those movies are a prerequisite for step monsters.

Well I agree with DV and nikki about disney’s dead mommies. You guys are great thinkers :hmmm: All I have heard from Dan Brown’s books is that Walt Disney had somethings with women may be he is a female worshipper and he believes in Godesses.:phati:Because when the girls don’t have their mommies they are the main characters heroes always come at the end ,the whole movie theme is based on females and their heroic efforts. And I wonder one thing in Tarzan that he is smart living with monkeys but what I don’t understand is how come he learn to shave his beard monkeys don’t do that and he is a clean shave handsome guy. And other thing that I don’t understand is whats the passion about rats and mouses:bummer:.

But I still love Walt disney’s movies they are cute.

LOL you guys make more sense than that professor  She showed the documentary to us last semester so maybe I’m confusing the Jungle Book with something else..oh well, I still like Disney
