I don’t see a problem with adhering to ones religious practices and I haven’t seen her being intolerant towards anyone and I doubt that any behaviour of hers (as far as I know) would cause public opinion to go against us. You are right, the way we act will impact how the community sees us. However, unlike your opinion on the matter, I don’t believe that the solution is to abandon religious practices/identity. Instead, I try to make a good representation while continuing to observe religious practices. I also take off time to pray at work. I even have my Juma timeslot permanently blocked off from having to take meetings and have had my travel plans modified by the company for business trips so that I can get my prayers on time. However, despite all of that, I still make sure to perform my work duties well and the time that I take out to pray etc. I will make it up to make sure that I am making them up. This is something that many Muslim professionals do.
Also, I couldn’t care less what those right wingers say. Those guys will scream about Islamification (or whatever it’s called) of the West for something as small as school kids having Halal food options available even though it doesn’t affect the availability of non-Halal for the rest.
