Guys, if you are playing "Fantasy XI" and its about cricket then you should have some rules. Just like no cricket team plays without bowlers, so should Fantasy teams. No cricket team plays without batsmen, so should Fantasy not play without batsmen.

exactly.
i agree with captain. There sould be some rules/restriction so it look like we are really playing fantasy championship.
I sure am pulling my hair out for not recognizing your hidden talents earlier…if I did, I wouldn’t be stuck with razzaq as my trump today ![]()
about the format, we can probably go with captain 1 's suggestion, however, does that mean we get to define who is a bowler or batsman? or is it going to be like the ODI league where fair & balance did the classification for us.
I personally think it should be open, even though that will probably require more work from f&b .
Faisal, We had Fantasy league here earlier too. This is 3rd or 4th time we are having it.
Captain... If we are going to ask people to chose team with restirction of bowler and batsmen then someone will have to classify player as bowler and Batsmen.Otherwise it will be Chaos. People can easily pick Sachin as bowler in their team.
To avoid that confusion some of us will have to classify players and everyone will have to stick to that defination. It can be me or anyone else who will have to do the classification.
f&b, don’t listen to some late bloomers here. aik fantasy league kya jeet li chalay aaye hain format tabdeel kernay.
.
Keep the bowlers/batsmen combo.
Yeah.. listen to those who are not even in top-15. They sure are experts in fantasy league ![]()
I just think the aim should be score maximum points. The way we play it, its so restricted that it makes it extremely easy to pick a select combination. All the hard work is done by F&B by limiting the number of players from each team, restricting batsmen and bowlers and then classifying them already. I see those who are weak in their cricket knowledge LOVE to play with all the resrictions
x2
I didn’t dispute that… all I am saying is why do we have so many restrictions… other than to say our participants are so weak that they need to be guided by these.
These teams are not going to play each other, for crying out loud. ![]()
Anyway, if you guys wanna play with all the restrictrions, or lower restrictions or what ever.. thats fine. I just asked a question cz you asked for feedback ![]()
Not trying to ridicule your level of cricket knowledge but in any fantasy sports there are restrictions or else a lot of participants will end up with similar teams of superstars. For example, in American football loeagues you can only have one QB. Imagine w/o this restriction there will be 10 QBs in a team. The aim of fantasy is to fantasize as close to reality as you possibly can and then win. Not just pick point makers and win. You have to play with real life limitations. Bowlers who are bad batsmen, batsmen who can bowl a lil bit, batsmen who can field and take catches in slips as opposed to someone who fields at deep square leg. These things do matter a lot in fantasy but I am sure you never thought of it.

This is not american football. 'Nuff said :p
Hey..its fine.. We are just discussing it here.As I said earlier if lots of people like it I will implement it. So no gussa !!! ![]()

Thanks f&b. You revived some not so old memories. Man, I lost the title by 12 points and had it not been due to a late change in Umair's team, I would have won comfortably. That is why I stress the need to follow deadlines.

The aim definitely is to score maximum points, but under given circumstances/conditions.
If you need more "liberty", "freedom" it can be provided in this fashion:
A team MUST have 3 bowlers at minimum (with 7 batsmen), or 6 maximum (with 4 batsmen)
A team MUST have 4 batsmen at minimum or upto 7 batsmen.
So the qualification for a team would be that it has at least 3 bowlers or at least 4 batsmen.

Them were the days, I was in the top half rather than struggling at the bottom.
My take is that the fantsy team should have batsmen, bowler and wicket keeper to mirror the actual teams in reality.
Like captain said have lower minimum levels fixed like 3 bowlers and 4 batsmen and one W/K. Let the particpants decide the other three the way they want to.
Also lets not restrict how many you can pick from each country, if someone wants to pick all 11 from one country let them.
One more suggestion that if a player is injured and is out of the series than participants who picked them should be allowed to change the player. To make this fair they should nominate one reserve bowler and one batsmen to replace any injured palyers. This will only happen if the picked player is injured and does not take any further part in the series. Other wise the participant is being unfairly punished. This will not apply to players who are not picked for the final 11.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Very good suggestion. I like it :k:

I like this suggestion.
But regarding wicket keeper, Ehsan bhai do you really think anyone will pick Parthiv patel ahead of Moin? So whats the point then, I'd say give it an option to others to either pick an extra bowler/batsman or pick a wicket keeper.
Injury Replacement will be a managment nightmare. i do not recommend it. What if your injury replacement gets injured on the first ball he faces?. It's just something out of control.

Well then it really is bad luck or they can appeal to you for another replacement. :)
Seriously I think one replacement should be allowed.

As much as I would love to do it .I think it will be a maintanance nightmare. for the following reasons..
1.If this is implemented ...we will probably ask people to name 2 extra player. One batsman and one bowler.Simply because if a bowler is injured then a bowler should be repalcement or team might not have the right combination of certain number of bowlers and batsman.
What if chosen player plays very well in 2 test and then get injured. Will organizer automatically pick one of the extra player in the team or we have to ask everyone who selected that player if they want to replace him or not??
What if player get injured but there is no announcement if he is out of series or not, but he doesnt play any matches there after?

Yes that is what i said two reserve players, one bowler and one batsmen, and they would be automatically substituted for the injured player. A bowler like Shaoib who probably will be picked by nearly everyone is very injury prone. That answers your first 2 points.
As for the 3rd point, it is highly unlikely that if a player is injured that no announcement will be made.
Also if the player is injured during the match then no replacement will be allowed during that match, only next match, as happens in real test match.
That is my revenge for the Dravid episode. Anything to increase your workload. :D
