Discuss... How to play TEST fantassy league

Very soon we will be starting Fantasy league for test championship. but before we do that I wanted to take feedback from everyone of you on how to do it. During ODI fantasy league people some people gave some suggestion…Here are few of those… feel free to make your suggestions here.

  1. Some people said that why there is restriction of having atleast 5 players from each team?? There shouldnot be this restriction.

  2. Some had issue with …why 5 batsmen, 4 bowler,1 all rounder and 1 WK.Let people chose 11 players that they feel like??

  3. Some said…why only 1 all rounders are allowed…why not 2 all rounder??

So lets see how you all feel?

Hi,
Thanks to start the test fantasy league championship, now i'd also be able to choose my fantasy team. :)
Well i have a suggestion, i think there should not be a restriction on picking up the allrounders.2 allrounders shoul be allowed.Rest of the restriction is okay.

And who do you think will be 2 all rounders.I dont see any players in both the team who would be considerd Test allrounder.

But lets discuss it. One the discussion is over in 1-2 days we will start a seprate thread which will have rules based on suggestions made here.

Since it is test cricket, you should omit all rounders all together. Only batsmen, bowler and wicket keepers. Razzaq qill be a bowler. Rahul should be a batsman. Also give more weightage to bowlers since earning a wicket in test is hard. Follow the deadlines and have a funtastic fantasy.

i suggest we should have fantasy league for each Test - you just never know which player will get hurt/injured.

:k:

I was thinking on same line.

very good suggestion. I think 30 point/wicket would be fine.
What about asking people to pick 6 batsmen,4 bowler and 1 WK.
or should we make 5 bowler?? whats your take?

Just curious... why make people select their fantasy team based on set criteria of batsmen and bowlers and what not. If someone is goof enough to select all batsmen, then let them languish at the bottom of the table. Its the points that counts. Which ever way they come.

Edit... ps. I am sure there might be a very simple answer for the above, which you guys have figured out thru experience... just fill me in, so I know. :)

then what will you do with the allrounders...will you drop them
how'll you consider razzaq as a bowler only.

why not make it 5 batsmen and 5 bowlers, 6 bowlers and 4 batsmen, or 4 bowlers and 6 batsmen? give people some leeway bt not too much, else the fun is lost.

yeah, do away with the all rounders -they never perform like all rounders anyway.

I'm comfortable choosing players from both teams if you make it necessary, or the other way too, i.e. no restrictions.

Here is my take on it..
We all know that this test series is going to be a total batting dominated series and every team will probably look like this..
Yassir
Inzi
Youhana
Laxman
Dravid
Sachin
Taufeeq
Sehwag
Ganguly etc...

We want people to use some head while selecting team. Let there be some scope of making mistakes and showing gut feeling.
Just my idea. But if everyone thinks that it is a good Idea then let us do it.

Karina: I think I am no same page with you.

Can others comment on Faisal's suggestion.

Minimum of 3 bowlers, minimum of 4 batsmen, one wicket keeper.

People can go overboard with 6 bowlers or 7 batsmen, let them do that.

^ Faisal :nook: :nono3:

This is pretty neat suggestion Captain1. :k:

whats your take on restricting people to pick a certain number of players from one team?

I agree with you Faisal Bhai, and I can't think of a single reason . I say let's lift all restrictions, it's going to be more exciting that way.

Well, thats my point. You want to win the fantasy league by scoring maximum points. Your fantasy team is not actually gonna play a match. Everyone should pick players whom they think will score for them the maximum points. You know a wicket is gonna score 20/30 points. A bowler who gets 9 wickets in a match will likely score 180/270 points, which will be higher than many batsmen. So, thats where people should use their head. Why make them stick to a pre-defined formula?

Why should there be a restriction at all? This is a two-team series. People should be free to select players they want. We make it too easy for participants by restricting the type of players. Open it, and everyone will have to think a lot harder to come up with a winning team.

not necessarily, I'll just copy yours and replace just one player with one of my own choice (or get it from fair & balance's team) :D

Is that how you selected your ODI team? :hoonh:

I doubt it, cz this is the first time I am this fantasy thingy, and no one knew… :stuck_out_tongue:

The reason for selecting a mix of batsmen and bowlers is to give it a team feeling. Also, the allotment of points (1 for ea. run and 20 to 30 for a wicket is not a perfect system... so having an equal number of batters and bowlers evens it out).

I think a fantasy team should only consist of 10 players. No need for wicket keepers. 6 batsmen and 4 bowlers.

Most teams for the test series will be monotonous. Like F&B said, most ppl are gonna pick Shoaib, sachin, yasir etc etc.

Captain's suggestion is quite good. Set some lower bounds like he suggested with no upper bounds, and if someone wants to include wicket keeper, be it, otherwise he/she can pick a batsman or a bowler. If wicket kepper is a must then i m afraid i dont see anyone picking Parthiv patel, deosnt matter how bad moin's form is..

Saby and FG...I like this idea of not having WK just because everyone will have Moin and it doesnt bring any variation.

Incroporating Captain's suggestion , We can still ask people to chose 11 players with minimum 5 bastmen and 4 bowlers.
No WK no Allrouder ka chakkar.
