In India every new Muslim invader killed the earlier Muslim ruler…every time there was a Jihad on both the sides.
Your most renowned ruler of Mogals, Aurangzeb killed his elder brother and imprisoned his father in a Jihad for power.

I know Akbar was probably the most favorite ruler by hindus. Marrying hindu women notably the mother of Jehangir. Even british learned from him how to rule with some autonomy to various parts of India.
While Aurangzeb had a different approach, Akbar also had a different approach.
None of them was completely wrong. Deen-e-Ilahi is not Islamic though.
