Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

Let me have the honor of starting.

Today I made gulab jamuns. All went well until the frying part.

Anyhow, the result is gulab jamuns that look like potatoes and taste like…I’m not sure…a cross between sweet and vomit.

Here’s a pic.

Now post yours. Don’t be shy :asa:

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

My disaster was dum ka qeema...you're supposed to give dam with a hot coal. I didnt heat the piece of koyla, put it on foil and then (like a dummy) kept opening up the pan to see why on earth isnt the qeema getting damm???

Yeah, that night we had just regular qeema.

the color ain’t too bad :hehe:

I made um-ali, an arabic sweet a while ago, was pretty enthusiastic about it but it turned out so ugly :frowning: didn’t taste too bad though but looked like throw-up

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

it's the rescued version Nikki.. tried to cover up with pista badam, it looked more horrible in real :(

^ Dont worry I don’t intend to stop

Well let me remember…the first or second cake I made was pretty awful. I didn’t know about oiling up the pan and i assumed nonstick meant the cake wouldn’t stick…but it turned out to stick! :smack: then it was badly cooked…the icing looked awful. It just wasn’t a purdy sight :nahi:

I made haleem yesterday (just the daals…no meat)…i was boiling it for 4 hours when i saw it was still the daal texture and looked nothing like the picture  so me thinking I was oh so clever, I ran it through the food processor. Only for hubby to ask later, “did u put this through the machine?” But it tasted good so it wasn’t a disaster.

I know in the 18 months i’v been cooking i’ve made a thousand and one disasters, I just block them all out :hehe:

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

Burnt fish :omg:..maine isko chupa dia before my hubby come home :omg:

lolllllllzzz :cb: my disaster was the cake i baked for the first tym i moved to austin wid my hubby…sum days bak…here its electric oven by GE wid no temperature readings…just verbal…lyk warm, low, medium, high…wat i did was to preheat on warm n cooked on low…n it was burnt all over :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

here is my latest diaster!! (before rescuing it)

it was supposed to be pan cake batter. i made the batter from scratch… there was a lot of left over so i was like… its “cake” so wat if i bake it… so i baked it… it was horrible … i had to bake it again… and eat it was raspberry jam and wipped cream. only was able to eat it if heated.

so dont bake ur pan cake batter

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures

I had made sookhi sewiyan (meethi) & mum had told me that colour has no taste so I put loads till I got the colour I wanted & my meetha turned out to be salty:bummer:

If you used yellow/biryani color they all have salt as an ingredient . You will need to buy color from some market not a desi store.
