Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures
those gulab jamuns don't looks so bad :D
I usually make pretty decent jamuns but I don't know what was up with my ingredients last time I tried (about 3 months ago), they all turned into shapes of aliens!! and I even tried twice thinking I was doing something wrong but NO! Stayed up till midnight but then gave up :(
Then I tried ras malai the other day - you know the ricotta cheese bake recipe and the ends got all baked brown which seemed kind of odd. So I was like ok not too bad, but then I tried to take them out of the muffin pan and they started falling apart (boohoo). Thank goodness they tasted good and I was just trialing it since I was craving ras malai for some reason :*(
I do make killer kulfi man - hopefully I keep on doing that for a while :) mmm...kulfi ....I want some now!
jee i came to know abt the diff colours baad mei:bummer:
After marriage first time I made rus malai in 2002 to impress my husband bur after putting dumplings in milk instead of floating on top om milk they all dissolved in milk, I get frustrated then I cooked the mixture to make firni type thing and the end result is too sweet and heavy firni unbearable sweetness but me and my husband ate it, I ate it becoz of sorrow that I cant made anyting rite and due to loss of milk and milk powder and he ate to encourage me no problem next time u will do it, and after 6-7 years I made it again by the recipe of alishat and Alhamd-o-lillah this time I did it, thanks to alishaht also and till now he and all of our friends do farmaish for rus malai but whenever I made rusmalai I recalled that embaressment for my first unsuccessful try.

I once ended up making 3 meals in one day & throwing all of them away.
First I made Chili Chicken with green chutney & Bhagaar walay Rice. For some odd reason it didn't taste right, the chutney smelled wierd too. So I threw it away.
Then I proceeded on making Indonesian Rice. After two hours of work that tasted weird too. The Chicken just didn't taste right. I got frustrated & garbaged it. Then tried to make Daal Chawal with Aloo kay Kabab. Even that didn't taste right. In a mere 6 hour time I garbaged all this food & actually thought someone had done some "kaala jaadu" on my cooking skills. Asked hubby to get carry out day.
Later on I figured it was the pregnancy hormones & felt so bad at throwing away all that "rizq"
Other than that no cooking disasters as such so far.
Spain?! Man you are so good at making rotis… mine come out like the shape of Italy ![]()
Distaster cooking…where do i start? ![]()

Re: Disaster Cooking: post your stories/pictures
I was trying out this new pizza dough and i didnt add salt ,the next thing I made the dough too thin and when I baked the dough it was very brown a nd hard like a rock.obviously it went in the garbage .the best thing was hubby was not at home so I just went out and bought a ready made crust.
a few years ago now i bought one of those boxes o make fairy cakes that has everything in it, all you need to is mix it and sling it in the oven. dont ask me how on earth i managed to get it wrong, but that night i had food poisoning :(
also some years back now in cooking lessons at school i made fruit crumble, but it tasted bitter
me and my brother tried to make mousse once but all you could taste was raw eggs, yeah that went in the bin sigh
chicken biryani i too once made some teeth breaking jamuns!
ah well.
