i know pia also do non direct, even though its classed as direct flights from pak to uk, anyone been on pia from pak to uk DIRECTLY with no stop overs or changes…

Yes, from lahore to heathrow direct.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

sorry, and has to be direct from islamabad.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

From lahore to heathrow, with such a difference of £150 to £200

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

They have flights from islamabad too. Service is just ok not upto the mark

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

"flight times" are NOT the same as "flying times"...it's usually 'gate to gate' time which amounts to about 45 minutes to an hour MORE than the allotted time for a particular flight depending on how big/busy the airports are at origin and at destination.

Also, going westward is one FULL hour MORE than the flights going eastward between the subcontinent and the UK.

i would say between ISB and LHR, the actual flying time would be 8.5 hours.

Expect 7.5 to 8 hours...at least. Also try and get seats at the front for more legroom. But they will be closer to the toilets so may be off putting.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

one more thing...some flights sold as 'Direct Flights' do NOT necessarily mean NON-STOP flights...they may have a stop-over somewhere on the way. and also watch out for flight numbers...If they are FOUR-digits, it means it's a code-share flight operated by another airline which means their regulations will apply as to the FREE Baggage allowance [if it's the FIRST flight in your itinerary].

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

I just checked on PIA's website:

There are 4 flights a week from Islamabad to London (Flight Number PK 785): Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. All of them are Non-stop flights and the flight time is 8 hours and 30 minutes.

If there was a stop inbetween it would certainly be more than 8 1/2 hours so I believe they are truly Non-Stop.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

I was just thinking:

Since you live in Peshawar, why don't you fly Emirates, ie Peshawar-Dubai and Dubai-London? Yes you would have to change flights inbetween but then you wouldn't have to travel to Islamabad prior to catching the flight. And Emirates has way better service than PIA, which will be very helpful when traveling with kids.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

Emirates will invole change of Flights at Dubai which will NOT be desirable with kids...

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

Traveling from Peshawar to Islamabad with kids and tons of luggage is also not gonna be very convenient.

My family changes flights in Dubai every year on their way to Pakistan and I am usually with them on the return flight only. Yes it's a bit of a hassle but still much better than putting up with PIA. Emirates staff on-board and on the ground are very helpful, ESPECIALLY towards women traveling with kids.

We don't even have PIA as an option as they don't fly to Vienna, but even if we had I am not sure whether I would fly with them.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

oh ok...i didn't KNOW that PIA is THIS bad!...i flew to Delhi with PIA some 11 years ago and they weren't that bad back then...they even provided hotel for the duration between my flights which was about a day and a half. this gave me a chance to see my folks in Karachi. i LIKED that! :)

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

I also flew PIA from Frankfurt to Lahore 15 years ago and back then they were brilliant. Unfortunately that is a thing of the past as far as I know.

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

yeah, hope they will regain their lost status in future, iA :)

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

Ameen

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

i'll be travelng with my infant via direct PIA flight from manchester to lahore. It takes about 7 hours. The service isn't bad IMO. The crowd can get on your nerves though but they do try to accomodate you with the baby well. I'd be asking for a bassinet seat as well. Hopefully IA it wont be too hard on my own

Re: direct flight possible on PIA?

Good Luck! :)
