well no shyt sherlock, but the asker's question was about having babies in future through IVF, and there is no way that he would have been able to do just that via IVF.

which basically means the mufti sahab had no clue what he was talking about, and he just saw two key words there hysterectomy and IVF and did a cut and paste.

I call it irresponsible, and it lays to rest the claim that these guys do consult with experts in other fields before they give answers.

Over all, very good points, Fraudia. I agree with you. To be honest, it is that way. Ulema do not pass a judgment if they do not know enough (at least majority of them). I've seen that happening.

I know of a Aalim in karachi (note to hypno.., he does not call himself Aalim, other people do). Someone asked him about the Saharia legality of Prize Bond Scheme. He told the person that he does not know the details of the scheme so he cannot tell. He then ask him to go to Mufti Usmani as Mufti Usmani's sepcialization is in Fianancial matters.

BTW. I am really sorry to read that unfortunate incident about loosing your twins in 2004. Kids when they pass away in early age become blessing for parents on the judgement day and will refuse to enter Jannah without their parents and will take parents with them. You also mentoined in another post that "they turned two, last week". That sounds like another set of twins (at least twins). May allah give them health and prosperity. My Dua's for your family.

Now, no one who posted after my post knew what the issue was because I suppose you have been lucky enough to not have to face situations like this. But unfortunately since these are the type of questions we had to address after we lost our twins in 2004, I have some knowledge in this area. as soon as I saw this answer I knew that the gentleman was wrong and id not understand the question and had not consulted anyone else.

I'm sorry to hear about that. May Allah SWT give you and your wife sabar and may he make those innocents souls a source of forgiveness for you in the hereafter.

tariq and USresident thank you for your kind sentiments. It was generally known around GS but since you were not around then u did not know.

We lost the twins Danyal and Amber due to some complications resulting in premature birth, they barely lived 5 minutes and 30 minutes respectively, we were also told that due to complications with the loss we may never have biological children again. and after a few major complications in the following year we decided to adopt. It was some masleyhat from Allah that while we had intended to adopt from pakistan or Azerbaijan that fell through, and while we went to Morocco to adopt a different child, his papers had issues and just by chance we found twins. what are the odds.

whatever Allah's maslehat has been with us, is only kown to him but we are happy that he blessed us and gave us teh joy of parenthood and the experience of raising twins we had so cherished and looked forward to. In 2004 we did not know that the cribs, the clothes and the toys we were buying for Danyal and Amber will never be used by them, but by other kids who were not even born, and to whom we had no connection then.

anyways, conclusion is whether or not there were dinosaurs around has no impact on faith and there is no problem studying dinosaurs and stuff..

The person who was asking queston he was wrong mufti sahab just gave a general answer to his question you should read the question again as the person know mufti sahab is not a doctor so he is just just asking plain question " We have no previous children, and I was wondering if in this case it is allowable for us to have an IVF, or what we can do Islamically to have children of our own. "
Mufti sahab is simply giving fatwa what the later has asked if IVF is allowed or not?? Or another way??? so what is wrong with this fatwa the person who is asking the question is wrong because he is asking three different questions.May be he want to make sure if IVF is allowed he want his wife to have kids before removing everything or may be if mufti told him another way so he can go for another method .He just asked three different questions with three different scenerios.

I ca show you other statements by scholas that the responsibility to give a right answer rests on the mufti, if the question os wrong he needs to clarify it, and he needs to give a proper answer or not give an answer at all. in this thread the example is given that some mufti referred the inquiry to someone else who had more expertise in the are rather than just stating something.

maybe, maybe not...he has not mentioned that there are any fertility issues there, a persn would think that the issue is more that since a hysterectomy has to take place, that he wants to figure out some other way.

Now hysterectomy is not something that you are going to delay and have kids ..regularly or via IVF before having the hysterectomy. if there are such issues with the lady that she has to have a hysterectomy then she is not ina condition to carry a labor to full term anyways.

again... had the mufti gone and spoken to a doc, the answer would have been more comprehensive, and complete and correct.

he did not speak to a doc .. i can bet on it
