I’ve been wanting to go to New York for a long time now and finally after a lot ‘bheeg maanging’ I got my parents’ permission. That’s only cuz my sister and her sister in law are coming with me. I found a very good deal for 6 days NY in a **** star hotel in the middle of NYC. Picked a date and was about to book when I heard that my cousin is getting married in August in Karachi/Quetta sigh
And that’s the dilemma! I’ve never been to any of my cousin/relative’s wedding so this is pretty exciting for me. I would have to go alone though as no one else from my family is planning to go. But then again this is the one chance that I can go to NY with my sis and have a good time :-/
What to do what to do?
4 or 5 weeks in Pakistan (last time I was there was winter 2001/2002) or 6 days in NY? (I can’t do both!)
Well if you know you'll be able to handle the hot summers of Pakistan, then just go to the wedding. Unless of course you have more cousins who will be getting married some time in the future. Then you can just go to NYC.
Umm..so we're back to square one. Good luck in whatever you decide. :-p
Both programs sound equally fascinating and enjoyable. But you have to weigh up your options here.
You have to see if thats the only chance you get to visist NYC or attend a relative's wedding in pakistan. Expenses wise when can you afford to visit america or pakistan. Pakistani visit sounds more appealing in a sense that wedding is spread over cities and you get to enjoy in every city i.e. karach, lahore quetta etc. But ofcourse the hot summers are an issue in pakistan.
Mehnaz you're right! Six days is way too short :-/ I wanted to stay for at least 10 days but my sis only has a few vacationdays left at work. I wasn't planning on sleeping though in those 6 days in NY :p
The way thinks look I think I'm gonna book for Pakistan. My mum is also telling me that it's not worth it. She said u can always go to NY in the winter.
Then come August, start telling your parents how much you love being a Pakistani and the culture crap back home. You want to go back and get familiar with your roots. You feel like you are becoming alienated from religion and your heritage. You know all the $hit elsers love to hear...and they will kindly oblige.
FG, I wish it was that easy!
I can't go to both NY and Pakistan. If I do go to Pakistan it will be for the full summerholiday bcuz I have to visit a lot of cities/people so 2 or 3 weeks is just too short.
OOooh I hate this! My sis is upset with me now bcuz she already booked her days off and is really excited about NY and on the other hand my mum and my cousins are telling me to go to Pakistan
I'm about to pull my hair out :(
You know what, I have the best of the best solution…ghar main bethoo…
What an easy question you are asking to the members…
EAST or WEST, MY PAKISTAN IS THE BEST !!!
Believe me, even if there is a bit hot in most of the parts of the country, you will find very nice weather in the northern areas, and july-august is the best time to visit those parts. and than, you may find the Punjab a bit hot, yet you will love to go outside during the evenings of Lahore and Islamabad for food and jooging in Islamabad. The evenings of Karachi are very calm during summer, with sun setting over the nice view of Clifton…
Shinoo don't come to NY in the winters. You'll freeze and won't thoroughly enjoy the outdoors. Come to NY first and then create a racket or emotionally blakcmail your parents to let u go to Pakistan. Have your cousins who are getting married beg your parents too. Or instead of returning home from NY go straight to Pakistan.
Shino Pinno, go to Pakistan as in NYC there isn't probably anything that you haven't seen before, and also you won't be 'kabab maiN haddi' for your sis & in-law.
