Digital Camera ??

For that price thing - what are the two retailers? I garuntee one of them is a cut rate place that has never updated their site. I went to a retailer's site via Yahoo Shopping and was amazed how stupid they are.

They had a DSC-P5 for 499usd. They said it was a "sale", but if you look 1 line above, it says the original price is the exact same. If you look to the right you see a DSC-P7 listed for 499usd also. And right next to it is a DSC-P9(4mp) for guess what-the same price.

The 380 is still cheaper if you look at what you need to buy. For instance a 64mb card for the 380 costs 19usd. While a 64mb for a 390 costs 32usd. Yes they are different formats, but heck-who really needs a format that can record at 1.2X faster. The 390's initial purchase price is cheaper than 380 because the 390 was introduced as a cut rate camera with the basics, while the 380 has been in production for a while and has proven itself as a great deal among camera freaks.

If you feel gittery about buying online, find a bricks and mortar store that has a price match garuntee. Show them the price and argue with them. Some match the price, and some even beat it.

Sears is a good place to try.. they usually price match.. you come out pretty close with the taxes vs shipping deal too..

but sadly they are usually out of the models in which you are really interested

It is a pure newbie camera. The results are great, but you wont have many options. For instance - it has no zoom. If you just want to take occassional photos its great, but the moment you want to get out of that beginner box - you'll face a brick wall.

Cooler? Well the DSCP8. No duh. The DSCP32 is a waste of money( no zoom).

The new range of cybershots confuse me. There have 2 same models. Anyone care to tell me the difference between the p92, and p10? or the p72 and p8?

I don't remember which retailers they were. Well I went to four different stores and surprisingly no one had Powershot A20! But I saw A60 and I liked it but didn't buy it at that moment. I compared its price with Powershot S200 and there wasn't much difference so I have settled for S200 now. Would you guys choose S200 over A20 and A60? I just ordered it last night from bhphotovideo.com. It cost me $260 including S&H (was it a good deal?...I think with all the other stuff like AC adapter and extra 64MB memory card it's gonna cost me over $300...I'm not sure where to buy these two accesories...Is there a store or website where I can get good discount on these??

First pics from my Powershot S200 cam...these were taken in low light...

Definitely. I am a true fan of the S series from Canon. I would of recommended it to you, but you did not put it on your initial list. Nice choice - the photos look great even at low res.

Why would you need an AC adaptor? Doesnt the s200 come with a recharger? Anyway a 64mb will be pretty cheap for the s200. Found a dirty cheap 64mb card for only 18usd at amazon . Heard they created CompactFlash, and that they supply several out of the box cards. Probably a good deal.

^

Sorry I was confused about whether they had included recharger but it was included so I’m not gonna order it now.

Hey I was first going for 256MB card but when I read Faisal’s message in another thread that 64MB would be enough so I ordered 64MB(from amazon). Well it wasn’t shipped yet so I just cancelled the order. I read reviews on this brand(viking components) and in some reviews people said that their card “died” after sometime. Anyways, I just ordered Sandisk 256MB for $55(S&H). I guess 256MB will be enough flash memory, what you think?

Oh well. Did you order a Compact Flash card? Yes 256 is enough. You can probably get close to 3,000 photos on that. Not sure about Canon’s compression tech so I cant give an exact figure. My 128 gets 1,300ish on low res.

Steve’s Digicam has updated its review of this camera and put some sample pics up as well. In conclusion he has given top honors to this camera.

Casio Exilim EX-Z3

great info.. but where can we go to buy that cannon A20 for about $ 200!
