I am compiling a series of info and some suggestions along with useful tips as to what you should look for before buying a digital camera and I'll ask Najim to post it as a sticky for other professional to share their thoughts. It will take time but hopefully soon I'll be able to provide you some useful info.
By the way you are the 7th person who raised the same question "Which camera should I buy"?
I just bought a Casio Exilim EX-Z3 and I'm thrilled with it.
The camera is tiny - it's smaller than the palm of my hand and slimmer than my hand - it's even small enough to fit in my wallet!
At the same time, it's got 3.2 megapixels, 3x Optical zoom a powerful set of internal software inside the camera that includes the ability to automatically create a website with your pictures on it, flash, etc...
Mad Sci : Seems like you placed "wow" factor above quality when buying your camera. It looks great, but the photos are the real test. Please do show the photos it takes. I gotta see what stuff casio outputs.
Steve's Digicam review gives a pretty decent evaluation of this Casio, though it didn't give a final conclusion, till the production model is available. The review was done in Feb '03. So based on that the camera has very decent features (though no video out, which I don't think is any biggie). There were no picture comparisons available, but whatever was written, I liked it.
Small size (really small - smaller than DiMage X), good zoom (3x opt), Good mexa pixels (3.2MP CCD), nice menu controls, and not terribly expensive. It just been released in April in North American markets at a street price of $399. Since its so new, so there are no discounts or deals available, as yet.
You're just jealous because you never got to sample the delights of Usmania Retaurant in Gulshan-e-Iqbal in Karachi (where the chicken tikkas featured above were from).
The chocolate ice cream there was amazing too. But their roast lamb was to die for....

mujhay bhee lena hay eik digital camera before i go back to pak…aur itnay mehngay hayn like 300 dollars se neechay ka koi acha wala ata hi naheen hay from what i saw
so mein bhee dekh hi rahi hoon aaj kal..
waisay i am thinking ke sony ka hona chahiyay coz meri roommate 3arabeeya ke paas hae and it is really good aur phir sohny ko bhee eik friend mil jayay gi
Sony is typically pricey in the same feature-range, compard to other brands. For you the advantage will be that u can store pics in Memory Stick and use it in laptop and Digicam with seamless integration. I don't know of any other digicam which uses Memory Stick.
Waisay Maddy... aap Karachi mein ho ya London mein? Aisay hi idher udher ki tasweerein post karnay ki nahi ho rahee... apnay Camera say tasweer khainch karr post karo. :~P
