Kohli is a more talented batsman but his disgraceful behavior on field overshadows his talent. Look at the way he reacted after his century in previous Asia cup. Also in yesterdays match after gul’s and Ajmal’s wicket how he was punching in the air at ajmal.. In response, look how Afridi reacted after the winning six. Smiling! absolutely no rude gesture at the opposition. That is why he rules millions of hearts even in India.
Kohli can never become a hero and a role model of a nation, despite of being the leader of his national team
These new generation Indian cricketers feels some kind of need to always remain in 'Chak de India' mode for cameras. It often looks stupid and pretentious. Have they stopped looking up to their cricket gods a la Sachin, Dravid, Laxman? Bring back Dhoni the true gentleman, it's impossible to dislike that guy.
Indian cricketers have always had an element of shoda'pan.
There was srinath, with all those flaring nostrils, jadega, kambli, not to mention Ganguli and then sreesanth, yuvraj singh and pretty much all the recent ones.

I would say "some Indian cricketers", not all, or not even 'majority'. There were likes of Tendulkar, Dravid or even Dhoni is not as bad.
First, Dhoni doesn't back up his players. Ever the sauve politician. 2nd the Aussies are the ones who are truly boorish. Warner bring the prime example. When they do it, it is just part of the game. Good old blokes having fun. While it wont be PC to say so, I would take Sreesanths intensity over Captain cool. Who should stick to one day.
Cricket would be dull without personalities. Trndulksr may have been a gentleman. But he was selfish. The batting order alwatkys had to be adjusted around him.
agree.
kohli is a good batsman. but he doesn't have what it takes to be a good captain.you supposed to show sportsmanship. losing and winning is part of the game. he should learn from MS dhoni too.

Give me a team with 11 Kohlis.
but then your captain will need to be 12th man. Its good to be passionate in the field, wanting to win but when you are done playing you accept your mistakes, you acknowledge good show :)

I haven't seen the post game show. I don't know what Kohli did or did not do. I read some quotes where he praised Mishra, said India made too many mistakes. If the latter half is not accepting mistake then I don't know what is.
Not sure what he is bring blamed abt. Did he not shake hands with Pak players? Did he say nasty things abt them? Or did he nit say enough good things abt them. I ask because I don't know. Didn't stay around for post match bereavement.

a general 'mistakes were made', everyone says, but difficult for everyone to say 'opponent played well'... that is what is missing, not necessarily to praise a particular player or a particular shot etc.

Ok. I didn't know he didn't say that. He should have. Let us see if this changes with time. I think this may have been his 1st captaincy? (Not sure)
Maybe he was preoccupied with searching for the geynd?
^ I did watch the game. But the streaming video was erratic. Based on ur post looks like he may have trash talked upon Ajmals dismissal. Not sporting I agree. But come on. Its a game. He is 25. Crowd loves such stuff.
Watch the Aussies harass opponent batsmen. That is dirty. But they get a clean chit.
By the way, fielders appealing for catches when they know it is not a catch is unsporting. Fielding side slowing down overrate to force a draw is unsporting. It is the norm nowadays.
Kohli obviously is too brash and some of his antics on the field don't leave a very good impression but hey, lala is not a role model either. He played really well the other day, won us a match in a way only he could and deserves all the praise for his performance but that is it. It didn't change anything about what he is and has been as a human being.
