The valilmay ka dress comes from the guy’s side and I was wondering, does the mother-in-law just ask you what you want? I mean I am very picky so I dont want to be disappointed. Isn’t it just better she asks me or she and I just go shopping together so we can both agree on what we get?
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
My MIL had both my barat and valima outfits made. She asked me what I like, and with that in mind, designed something of her own.
I know people who are very particular, and for some, their MILs have just let them pick out stuff on their own. Others have not. In the end, you have to work with your MIL to have something you both like (even if it's not your top choice) and accept the gift graciously.
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
I chosed everything myself from bridal outfit's to jewellery :-)
She said it's you who's going to wear it so better to chose something you like.

Well if ur really picky about what you wear then maybe you should just casually ask ur MIL depending on how your relationship is with her or if you don't feel comfortable about it maybe you can talk to ur finance or what my cousin did was she talked to her nand (SIL) about it and told her what colours/designs she likes and they got a lengha made according to that

Thats true. But the weddings in Jan '09. So I'm guessing she might just ask or whatever. Cuz we're cool like that.... But I just wanted to know other people's exeriences...
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
i wasnt asked my MIL done my shopping all herself and i can say very honestly i have such beautifull stuff from them from gold and artifical sets to clothes and the valima ka lengha was just too beautifull i loved the fact that it was a suprise bcoz my side shopping was all my taste so its good to have some variety abit like wearin stuff from two dif designers

thats cool. But again, like i said, I'm picky and never like stuff other people get me. I'm not really concerned about the other things... I am just talking about the valima dress since I will HAVE to wear it.
lol..
But its cool you got nice stuff.. MA, allah mubarik karay.
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
my SIL asked me but they got wat they wanted any way.
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
then perhaps you could request to go shopping with your MIL for all your stuff .. if not make sure you give as much guidance to them about your stuff . i think you should tell your in laws that you would like to do your own shopping .. lolz .. good luck
Re: Did your mother-in-law.............?
i don't have a MIL yet but if they decide to get the valima dress for me, i'm just going to tell them that i'm very picky and id like to choose the dress myself (i'll get my fiance to back me up :p) or if not then i'd like to go shopping with them. please, i have more things planned for my valima look than anything else! since you can be the most creative that day..especially with the colors. i can't afford putting all those ideas to waste
