Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

^^ So you are suggesting it was a very tough wicket to bat on?

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

It doesnt really matter who gets MOM.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I'm an ardent fan of Sachin but he didn't deserve the award today. Even Gavaskar said the same thing... if it had to be someone from the winning side, Raina or Munaf were better contenders.
That being said, I have seen MoM being awarded in the past to someone in the losing team, and Wahab truely deserved it. If it weren't for him India would have easily reached 320ish today.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I am not suggesting that. The experts doing the commentary said that this is not the typical Mohali wicket where the par score is 310-320. Even Sachin and Dhoni said the same thing after the match.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

LoL, what else would you expect from them after not scoring 300? :D

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

It was a pretty good wicket. Wahab's success was due to reverse swing and not movement off the seam. Similarly Ajmal was successful bcoz Indian batsmen did not read him. Pakistani batsmen gifted their wickets.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

No he did not :vivo:

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I understand where all that negativity/sarcasm is coming from, so I will just ignore it :D

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I am surprised no one has brought up Sehwag's name for MOM. IMO, his initial flurry was a key difference maker, took Gul (Pakistan's best bowler coming into this game) out of the equation. Cricinfo had this snippet of how the first 15 overs was the difference - India outscored Pak by 29 runs exactly (eventual margin of victory) in the first 15 overs. Basically both teams scored the same number of runs in the remaining 35 overs. This game was always going to be about handling pressure, and Sehwag put the pressure on Pak right off the bat. (Maybe the dropped catches were a result of this). In any case, Sachin did not deserve the MOM.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I slightly disagree MOM is the one who Contributes towards **victory. **I wud have loved to see Riaz MOM, but Pakistan didnt win. His best wasn't enough and Tendulkars worst was.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Lets say we agree to disagree. It is the man of the match not the player of the match from the winning side.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Ab sachin ne thodi bola tha ke mere catches drop karo. aap ne kar diye aur us ne score kar diya.
its all part of the game.
he is the top scorer and he deserved it.
if someone took 4 wickets even from india's side then he would be mom. but fortunately or unfortunately all the bowlers got same number of wickets. you cannot pick a bowler from them for mom.
or may be if yuvi made some 25 runs then he could be mom.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

My MOM would be Saeed Ajmal ....

Sachin and rest of Indian batsmen were clueless facing him ...

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Sehwag was certainly a difference maker

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Ofcourse it must be Wahab. Some outstanding bowling :lajawab: Sachin inning can’t be called nice inning in any aspect.
*** sachin tried his best not to complete 100 :stuck_out_tongue: & Pakistani’s tried their best to reach him 100 but afsoos :teary3: ***

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

How many times do you see bowlers getting wickets truly because of their skills vs batsman playing a bad shot and getting out. If a bowler gets 5 wickets and all were because batsman played a bad shot do you not give the credit to the bowler? You do. In the same way, if batsman scores because of dropped catches, itsn not his fault. And remember, there is one batsman fighting against 11 players. Whereas bowlers get assistance from players who take catches etc.

In the same way, if sachin was dropped 4 times, that doesn't take anything away from him. Just think of it this way - had tendulkar really being out at the first time, what would have happened. Perhaps india might have been out for 230 or so. So indeed his 85 made a lot of difference. Against all the odds, despite having a bad day, against a superb wahab, he still managed to be there in the creez and be inspiration to others.

Certainly not the best of the MOM but still. But you can't say he did not deserve it. But wasn't the best of his innings.

The best performance in the match however was wahab without any doubt.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

tendulkar may not have been an ideal MoM but there is no question that it was the right decision. saying that MoM should have gone to wahab riaz is ridiculous. MoM is not about who had the relatively best individual performance to be evaluated in isolation without context.

five wicket haul is nowhere near enough to deserve MoM over the most significant contributor to the winning side in a world cup semi-final match. tendulkar happened to be that player.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

no i wouldnot exactly give it to sachin the MOM....it wasnot up to the mark though ofcourse his 85 made india reach that total but still it wasnot an extra ordinary performance

i surely would have given it to wahab riaz. (not saying this coz pak has lost it or i am just favouring pak player since its my team) but truly he deserved it....i wonder why he didnot get it...in past i have seen matches where they have awarded MOM to someone from the defeated team.

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

Wahab should have been given MoM if the jury had real vision...that would have been a great consolation award to Pakistan.

Also he really did turn the game for Pakistan and it was Pakistan fielding and batting that failed.

He is still MoM in my eyes...I wish he had a twitter or facebook page where I could leave him a message....

Re: Did Sachin deserve MoM today?

I think Gul deserved it.... If it wasnt for him Pakistan wud have won.
