I agree with Saby on this, I dont see the need for comparison. Dhooni played a good innings, for the sake of Indian fans let’s hope he keeps up the good work and play many more valuable innings for India and provide entertaining batting to all of us. He is technically a better batsman then Afridi although Afridi’s ability to hit the ball far far away still stays unmatched.

Exactly. !!! I dont know why for many other people it is so difficult to say facts.

^^ ^^ Some 1 bhai we dont need to decide if it is an elevation or descent. Ask yourself honestly and you will get the answer. If not than ask kumble or irfan pathan or ask F & B who opened this thread several months ago.

Obviously I am fan of Afridi’s slogging. No body slogs like him. Specially that day he was brilliant. Does that mean I want Dhoni to be like him.. Hell noooooo…That will be a WASTE. I want him to be more consistant. because he can do better than a 24 average.

First off, Afridi is not used a front line batter, he is used as a slogger and he is the best at what he does. You really think Woolmer and Inzi send Afridi as an opener expecting him to carry the bat through the innings? LMAO. Afridi is a utility player, can turn the game around with batting and bowling. He has been successful at ALL types of tracks, you can dig up his average in the recent West Indies and Australia tours. You don't always need a big 100 to win a match, a quickfire cameo here and there can be just as effective. After all, we have other batsmen who are alot better than Afridi at scoring hundreds.

Dhoni is altogether different, he is sent to play a long innings and he is used as a WICKETKEEPER-BATSMAN. India still has not got of the psyche of playing atleast 7 batsmen, which is why a mediorcre keeper like Dhoni is in the team. His batting justifies his selection and as soon as he starts failing with the bat, like Funguy said, he will be out of the team.

Credit where credit is due. The guy has immense power and can hit huge sixes any time during his innings. Playing that kind of innings after 50 overs of keeping is even more impressive. Looks like we will have some competition next time around when we play the parosis! Kicking out Ganguly was probably the best thing they did to revive their team.

No need to compare between these two though:-

Dhoni has the brilliance nad Afridi has the spirit.

Dhonis has got stronger arms than Afridi ......

Both players can not be predicted...

Though Afridi is my one of the liking players,remember the fact that Dhonis innings came in the second innings of the day,chasing a big score,and that proves his brilliance.

Afridis centuries are born in nine years of time as he started his career in 1996 agaist Srilanka in kenya but Dhoni has already scored his two centuries in this year alone.
