DG ISI being sacked?

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

thats none of my business but i want to see PTI under IK's leadership ruling pakistan....

As m an indian

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

The government now seems to be going to the point of no return, what if they do sack the ISI chief of army chief? If something like that happens then the government will succeed in becoming a shaheed.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

While the US embassy has issued a statement of support for democracy in Pakistan.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

Only secretory defense has been sacked . . . whats the big deal about it ??

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

In these circumstances army top brass take collective decisions. I think the corp commanders will sacrifice Kiyani/Pasha and will not become a tool in the hands of Zardari. I don't think army wants to take over and topple the present set up.. specially in a time when they will be deserted by their own party members and coalition partners within few hours if army sticks to constraint policy..

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

last rites on it seems. Full time pinayn laga rahay hayn army ko k please topple us. I really hope Kiyani does not take the bait.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

now that ISPR has openly criticized PM, I believe its almost time....

Secondly, so far only Sec Defense has been sacked. PM has full authority to sack him if he thinks that he was not performing as per rules/laws

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

kehne main kiya haraj hai ;)

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

MQM is expected to ditch the coalition any time very soon.. Ch. Shujaat already indicated that they will not support confrontation with army.. Both of them have no reasons to become martyrs for PPP cause..

I am sure many PPP MNAs will ditch the party before the ship sinks. I don’t think Kiyani needs to move 111 brigade..

MQM Rabita Committee meets

KARACHI: Pakistan ruling coalition partner MQM is having an urgent meeting of its Rabita Committee both in Karachi and London right now to discuss the current situation, Geo News reported.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

In another interesting development Army has replaced its 111 Brigade (famously knows as triple-one brigade) commander. Anyone who knows a thing about Pakistani politics, knows the importance of triple-one brigade. Housed in Rawalpindi, 111 brigade is used frequently to topple civilian governments.

PM sacks Secretary Defence; COAS calls emergency meeting
**ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday sacked Secretary Defence Khalid Naeem Lodhi, DawnNews reported. In a related development, the army chief summoned an emergency meeting of the corps commanders.

**The prime minister revoked Lodhi’s contract and handed over the additional charge of secretary defence to Nargis Sethi. Furthermore, DawnNews quoted sources as saying that the military high command had appointed Brigadier Sarfaraz Ali commander of the 111 brigade.

Prime Minister Gilani’s office said in a statement that Lodhi was fired for “gross misconduct and illegal action which created misunderstanding” between state institutions.

The army earlier said the defence ministry had failed to process its submissions made to a Supreme Court inquiry into a controversial unsigned memo that sought US help in curbing the power of the military.

That failure triggered a row between the country’s military and civilian leadership, with the prime minister earlier in the week telling Chinese media the army top brass had acted unlawfully in failing to consult it.

**Moreover, Lodhi was regarded as having more power than the defence minister because of his direct ties to the army high command.**

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

I am sure even mentioning the name would cause shivers to Nawaz Sharif. ;)

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

Army and government are eye to eye now . Lets see who makes the first move . History repeating itself . Are we ready for another long term marshal law ?? I hope not .

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

This time it will be Bangladesh model (Judiciary leading with the support of Military) and not Martial law. Much needed political support for such model is provided by NS just like provided by Sheikh Haseena of Awami LEague in BD.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

The best retaliation is to let them rule. Nothing would make them more happier than a coup at this point of time.

re: DG ISI being sacked?

let aside the NRO or memo, only if COAS (kiya-nahi) and Pasha go to court against PM and sue him for the allegations of breaking constitution PM can easily be proved lair and convicted for this and get banned...

and if they fire COAS and Pasha it will be another point against them in Memo case, because both of them have said 180 degree opposite to what pm said and this move can be taken as an attempt to change the course of case.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

One thing is that in spite of the bad performance of the government, the people don't have the patience to welcome another martial law. Any step like that will not be supported by the opposition as well as the judiciary. Thats why lets see to which extent the government goes to test the nerves of the military, and how they will respond. Any intervention at this stage will be detrimental for the country, but if they dont resist they will lose their fangs to the political govt. Tense situation.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

PPP has already gained some political mileage due to the stupid statement from kiyani/ISPR in which they used threatening language for Gillani. Just a simple press release denying PM's alligations should have done the job but they went ahead to threat civilian govt that PPP will use. They in fact fired Sec Defence after that statement from ISPR.

Re: DG ISI being sacked?

Army must not step in, come what may. Nothing could make PPP more miserable than the resignations of Kayani and Pasha. These resignatiosn would put immense pressure on the government as well to quit and announce new elections.
