re: Detox [merged]
Basically for 2 days, you need to drink a hi protein, sugarfree smoothie with mixed berries and good quality protein powder. Throughout the day. No solids or caffeine or other drinks. You also need to take a multivitamin supplement.
More details coming.
re: Detox [merged]
detox diet refers to diet in which you only eat fruit and unprocessed vegetables.. no roti salan and stuff...no juices whatsoever....milk can be added to ur diet tho... but basically nothing that has sugar in it. You can add protein shakes in there too...
ps: why did u feel the need of switching to detox diet?..just curious.

I have heard of what some call a "spring diet" to detox their systems..
no sugar, no white bread, no white rice, no meat, no eggs, no dairy, no spices
You CAN eat whole wheat bread, brown rice, vegetables, fruit, legumes, dried fruits/nuts, can have salt.
I forgot the rest, my friend is doing that, about a month.

re: Detox [merged]
there are different kinds of detox diets....the basic idea is to internally cleanse the system. u avoid heavy foods that fog the body down and eat simple stuff that can be easily broken down by the body. there are ways to detox drinking only fresh fruit juices, water and no solid food but i find that extreme and i dont think it should be done for more that a few days. plus short term extreme measures like this are not good for your health...why not take a good diet thats rich in wholesome foods so your body is ALWAYS toxin free? a do-able detox is only eating whole foods (whole grains, fruits, veggies). a harder detox diet is one that allows only raw fruits and raw veggies (nothing cooked).
re: Detox [merged]
but isn't detox only meant for a few days.... not a permanent solution..
the south beach diet has a "detox" phase..its cutting out every single bit of carbs and fruits and sugar from your diet for two weeks. And then gradually add back healthy carbs like whole foods and fruits... til u reach ur goal weight. i always wanna start it but it seems so hard and limiting going carb-free.. =//
re: Detox [merged]
After consulting my friend who is a doctor of ayurvedic medicine and a nutrition consultant, this is a summary of Detox:
Why Detox:
On a day to day basis we consume all kinds of foods some of which are converted to energy, some used by our body and some excreted. However, over a period of time, some toxins are build up which remain in our body and cause problems such as sluggishness, digestive problems, weight issues, etc. By following a systematic detoxification method, we can rid our bodies of such toxins and create a foundation of a new diet plan. It enables our body systems to function better and to it's best potential.
How to Detox:
There are many detox plans available. This is one I have personally tried:
2 days.
No solids. No caffeine. No dairy.
Only water, and liquid protein drinks with mixed berries.
A digestive enzyme supplement to boost digestive system to work.
A supplement with lactobacillus which compensates depletion of healthy bacteria in our intestine.
A multivitamin-mineral to compensate for lack of food.
Proteins aid in providing minerals which are needed by body during detox.
Berries also stimulate digestive system to function properly at this time.
I lost 3 lbs. This is not fat, but toxins as well as water that had been retained. After detoxification, I started a hi protein low carb diet program and successfully achieved my goals.
Please ask further questions.
re: Detox [merged]
Wow, that sounds good! Which digestive enzyme supplement did you use and what kinda supplements contain lactobacillus?
Go to a health food or whole foods store. There are many good brands, organic ones.
re: Detox [merged]
What kind of protein drink did u have? You mean protein shakes? And when u say mixed berries u mean to mix it with the protein shake?
re: Detox [merged]
I got thi sugar free protein drink mix in orange flavor, added berries, some protein powder and ice, and water. Blended it and had it 2-3 times a day. Very filling and nutritious.
re: Detox [merged]
