do u believe in kismat ? .. do u think everything that happens to u is already written ? does it make a difference if u go with the flow or try to be active n change things around ? .. what if u try but ur still at the same spot ..
Re: destiny
No it isn't, life is a series of choices you make, make the right ones you'll go far, make the wrong ones (like marrying a pot head) you'll fall to the lowest of the low. Nothing is written around, god gave us free will to act and choose upon our fates, in the end one can only blame oneself for their faults.
Re: destiny
I don't really believe in the whole "what happens to you is already written" because your destiny is based off the choices you make and decisions you take. I guess it's also my lack of faith in a religion but I really don't believe is pre-written like a movie and you're just a character in it.
Re: destiny
^often times we dont understand the correct meanings of destiny -
it is for Him to know and you to find out - if you are denying the so called destiny you are indirectly denying the existence of God
Re: destiny
Life is definitely a series of choices you make but it is definitely written in your destiny which choices you will be making. Thus, although Allah Swt has given us free will to make your life decisions, it was basically His decision and already written in our qismat that we will be making these decisions. So, at the end, we might feel that we made the decision but we are only puppets and we did what was already written in our qismat. We should try our best in life because this is in our hands. How each of our decisions turn out in the future depends on our qismat and what already has been decided by Allah Swt.
Re: destiny
the idea of destiny is very simple. Things are written but you are given willpower to change it. we can change some ,others we cant.

I believe in luck, but I believe in Prayers more than luck!

Ashy2010, Does this mean that when I do something bad i.e commit any crime, that is b/c it was written in my qismat, then why I would get a punishment and why there is hell?
I think “whatsoever a man soweth, that he shall also reap.”

The punishment and rewards depend on our choices, deeds, actions and decision which we make in our life. Do you think Allah doesn't know whom of us will go to Jannah and whome of us will be in Jahannum? He knows everything. Everything in our life is already written. What choices will we make in our lives and what punishment or rewards will we be getting in hereafter is also written. The punishments and rewards depend on our own deeds which Allah already knows we will be making.
If a person decides to kill another person, this is his own decision which he could have avoided. Thus the punishment he will get depend on this action (although it had already been known to Allah and written in the qismat of his person that he will kill a person and thus will be committing a sin which he could have avoided because he was given free will of NOT killing the person).
Re: destiny
i think ashy is mixing things between ''knowing'' and ''written''.....
from what i heard.......... allah ''knows'' what you will be doing..and choices you will be making.....but its only his knowledge............. the freedom and ability of making the choices rests on humans..........
there are some aspects...which are written.....from what i have learned/heard..

But Allah has written our qismat, right? So whatever He knows and whatever is written in our qismat is the same thing. Isn't it?
Allah has given us freewill to make our choices but at the same time He know what choices will we be making and He has already written in our qismat. The qismat is just the journal which Allah has used to record his knowledge.
Has anyone heard of the term LOH-e-Mahfooz? It is a book/ screen in which Allah has written each and everything. I am not sure if its something related to qismat. But it definitely shows the pre-written things by Allah.
Re: destiny
if Allah wrote out qismat - then we shouldnt be punished for it, coz He wrote it
nomi is said it well
basically "it is for Him to know and us to find out"
Re: destiny
The way i understand it is that since Allah is all knowing, he already knows what path, what decisions we wl be making but that doesn't mean he has already made them for us. Only few things like our birth, death, the family we are born to, etc are predestined.
Re: destiny
Well... it is either written or it isn't! When folks telling me that "they heard or learned or Buzergunh nei kaha" doesn't carry any weight cos where they learned from, is it in Qu'ran? If it is not, how one can know if parts are written and parts are not. Is it YOU or ME to decide, of course not.
We shouldn't be punished or take a credit for doing bad or good if its already written.
Allah has shown us both sides, good and bad and if you do good, you will be rewarded and if u do bad, you will be punished Period.

Nope........... if the choices we make are written already......and we don't have any responsibility for those........the concept of jaza and saza, punishment and reward. loses value...........
i am not claiming to know what it is.........just sharing what i know.....and how i make sense of it all......

The qismat belief does not contradict the idea that human beings have the free will to choose a course of action. Allah does not force us to do anything; we can choose to obey or disobey Him. However, our choice is known to Allah before we even do it.
Allah knows the best. We are only trying to understand this qismat thing. All I know is that believing in qismat is one of the pillar of Islam and we cannot deny that. Now what percentage of qismat is controllable and what percentage is uncontrollable, only Allah knows.

You want to be on both sides, the free will and qismat, where this (Qismat) "pillar of Islam" came from? These five pillars; Shahaada, Salat, Zakat, Ramadan, and Hajj, now where Qissmat fits into these? BTW.. these 5 pillars were created long after our Prophet (PBUH). I didn't mean if they are right or wrong.

Yes I am on both sides,** FREE WILL** and QISMAT.
I just want to mention few verses from Quran which confirm that free will and qismat both are mentioned in Quran.
FREE WILL:
[Surah Najm 53:39] That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
[Surah ar-Rad 13:11] Verily never will Allah/God change the condition of a people until they change it themselves (with their own souls).
DESTINY:
'Nothing can happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is Our Master. It is in Allah that the muminun should put their trust.' (Surat at-Tawba,51)
I meant Pillar as in, without believing in Qismat, we cannot be complete muslims since it is something mentioned in Quran.
Re: destiny
guys guys
qismat/destiny/etc. is ONLY defined if it related to things in the past i.e. you ONLY know if something or someone was in your destiny when it HAS HAPPENED.
We live in a time-dependant world therefore which gives us the ability to make choices. Allah swt on the other hand is not time-dependant meaning past, present, and future have no meaning for Him while they have for us. So, destiny is for Him to know and us to find out (through our choices, decisions, events, etc.)
perfectly scientifically explained >>>
Re: destiny
^ but if he knows our destiny that means we never had any free will to begin wtih .. it just look sliek we do
