#desinameproblem

Re: #desinameproblem

I always called it Megatron in my head. Much easier.

Re: #desinameproblem

in Urdu:

ZaaZ = filthy talk, a thorny bush
Zaalah = hale
Zozaf = dark, gahraa, 'omeeq
Zonad = saafii, rag cloth, gudRii, an old man etc
Zauleedagii = worries, loops within loops

aZdahaa = Python
aZdahaam = calamities

Re: #desinameproblem

wo kaise

This reminds me. My auntie is called nudret aka nuddie but I call her puddie (I know it’s a swear word but not sure the entire meaning). I’m probably going to hell anyway. I’ve been calling her puddie for 20yrs.. My bad..

Re: #desinameproblem

Don’t know which one is worse? Nuddie ya puddie :rotfl:

Lool. I used to run around the house calling her nuddie puddie when I was a kid. Those were the days.

Re: #desinameproblem

:hehe:

Re: #desinameproblem

My name gets butchered in Pakistan. Goray pronounce in right. One time I booked at a table at restaurant on the phone. Once I got there I realized the reservation was for Mr
rhymes with giraffa.

And father’s name gets butchered too. My name is small yet unique so I understand why people get confused but his is very mainstream

In the end I just order pizza for the khan residence because that’s the easiest part of my name.

Re: #desinameproblem

Hindus really butcher some Muslims names, like:

Jaleel = Zaleel
Jaabir = Zaabir

lolz :hehe:

Re: #desinameproblem

I said tmra name kisi ne kya krna hy, tm ne b yehi kaha toh milti julti hogyi :wink:

Re: #desinameproblem

You got a nice name. When I first saw it I tried pronoucing it but I think the best I can do is call you “megan” unless I heard you tell me how it is pronouced.

Re: #desinameproblem

i still pronounce ur name as maiz ghan :bummer: @Mezhgan

Re: #desinameproblem

Lol. It’s probably right but I dunno..

Re: #desinameproblem

lol dats not right she told us dat Z is pronounced like Sh may be i also dont know :smiley:

Re: #desinameproblem

Erm..no. :smiley:

It’s Mezh-gone (as in "gone home"). The -zh sound is a soft g sound like the g in the word protégé. It isn’t a z sound like in zebra. In Dari, the -zh sound is made by one letter, rather than two like in English.

I don’t really mind though. Asians tend to mispronounce it as the zh- sound isn’t common in Urdu (see @KKF and @Ess Emm’s explanation above). :hehe:
