Desi girls' staring habit

Is it just me or do most desi girls have this bad habit of staring at other girls? And I am not just talking about checking out clothes/shoes because I do that too, but literally staring like a snake watches it’s only egg. Desi guys do that too in a creepy sort of way, but at least their staring is a little understandable, but I just don’t get why desi girls do it.

Like today I went to tim hortons to grab a couple of iced caps, and these two desi girls stared at me the whole time through entering/standing in line/placing order/picking up order/exiting/and finally driving off. And it wasn’t only just this once, I notice desi girls staring wherever I go. So what do you people think? Is it just me being paranoid or does this happen to other people also?

Mods, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, so please feel free to move the post if it belongs somewhere else.

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

hahaha thats so funny!

because it has happened to me too...

listen we live here in USA & their aren't many "desi" here, so when brownies do see each other, well they just like to stare, some don't but usually some do, its there habbit...

maybe your just so damn good looking & they just had to keep looking???

take it as a compliment i guess ^^

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

I do it lol and its weird because I dont intentionally mean to do it either. Its just one of them things that will never be explained...

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

2 sisters? can i have one? lol i only have 2 brothers...older ones at that. Theyre no fun. And thanks :) you too.

AND i commented on your profile...dont think we should have our own little convo in the middle of a thread haha

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

Could be various reasons:

1) Desis are a rare phenomenon where you live

2) You are one hell of a hotty and they wished they looked like you. Or if you're a guy....they want to get with you.

3) They want your iced caps!

4) Sometimes we are just not aware of that booger hanging out of our nose, or an open fly, or an inside-out t-shirt, etc.

5) It's human nature....it's well known that we connect to those of similar backgrounds. In this case....race.

WOMEN can get away with looking at both genders. Men can't get away with it. If a guy stares at another guy.....he'll be accused of being gay. Also, WOMEN **can get away with complimenting **both genders for their physical appearance. A man can't get away with praising a guy's looks.....it can lead to ahem...assumptions.

^Oh the joy of womanhood!

Although.....I will agree.....that someone staring at you like you're a piece of double chocolate fudge cake with their name iced on it..........IS CREEPY!!!!!!!! (not many can get away with that)

^except for serial killers.....hmmmmm.

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

I DO THAT...lol we all do that. its to check out whats shes wearing/her hair/etc.....i do it all the time as do all the girls i know. id take it as a compliment........sometimes i see my cusin staring at me and when i look at he ri see her staring at my hair or shoes or clothes.....if its nice they`l look...OR it could be reversed and you look sooooo bad that they have to stare.but i doubt its that.

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

Me fricking too! I just ignore, laugh it off with my sisters and grumble if it's really in my face and annoying. But I have yet to figure out why this happens and in the beginning I used to heavily avoid desi-fied areas and now after coming back from Pakistan where the staring just went to a whole different level, I think I've become desentisized. Meh

Re: Desi girls’ staring habit

How would you know? Do you also stare back, eh eh :faizy:

Re: Desi girls’ staring habit

Oooooh…good question, Nikki! And well-enhanced by the smiley with uppy-downy eyebrows (nice touch).

It takes a starer…to know a starer. LOL LOL LOL!!!

Re: Desi girls’ staring habit

ye! How would you know they are staring unless you stare them back?

uummmmmmmmmmmmm I am REALLY upset wid someof you guys! How can you say it’s a compliment when a girl is staring at another girl?

Seriously, I have had girls just tell me openly that they think I’m pretty (once in a while ya? not always - I admit :frowning: :hehe: ::slight_smile: :omg:. I never noticed them staring! What’s up with that?

Next time I go out I’m gonna have to keep an eye on those girls! :hehe: (ops I hope they don’t think I’m staring at them - and them taking it as a compliment that they must be beautiful or wearing something nice) :omg:

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

LOL. Yes there are times when I would be unconsciously staring at someone without even seeing them, but that cannot always be the case. As for how I even know that they are staring, it's because I can see them from the corner of my eye. And they do not even look away when I turn back and look at them.

My sister has always said that desi girls stare because they are jealous. It does not bother her because she takes their staring as a compliment. I, on the other hand, feel extremely self conscious when someone stares at me. I would always start to wonder whether it's something wrong with my hair/clothes or as redvelvet said, a booger hanging out of my nose. It wouldn't even bother me if someone stares for 5 minutes and then gets back to doing what they were doing. What bothers me is the constant staring I get from desi people that lasts for as long as I am in their line of vision.

As others said, it could be that they rarely see any other desis in the area that they like to connect to others of their race. Well that would be true for the tim horton's incident, as this happened in the area where there are barely any desis. But I get these stares at Brampton aka brown-town a LOT also, and trust me, there are more desis there than white folks ...

Sorry edited it to add this

When someone stares at you, you just KNOW. It is a feeling that you are being watched, and then you look over and there they are, looking right back at you. Hmmmm, I don't know how else to explain it, but anyone who has been stared at would know about the creepy feeling ...

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

Staring often begins with looking out of the corner of your eye.....then a few moments later....it becomes a FULL BLOWN STARE!

LOL. kididng. Hmmmm, or maybe not.

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

It's true! It's not staring if you are aware of your surroundings and you know who's where and doing what, etc, but I think the tye of stares spoko's referring to are the ones that are shameless- they don't break eye contact, they keep going!

To all the stare-ees, at least be subtle about it :)

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

Desi people stare at each other - not news. Did you just happen to come across this phenomenon recently?

Re: Desi girls' staring habit

^ Most likely he didn't come across the phenomenon recently. BUT it could be the first time Spocko is discussing the issue on a thread. You can experience things multiple times before bringing them up for discussion.
