what a prejudice
Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
hi there ![]()
most second generation desis, in watever country it may be, are quite confused abt their culture. they don’t feel they fit in with desis coz they can’t speak urdu or w/e the case is, so they have their own little thing trying to be white/black. that’s y they r ‘confused’ and stand out…they dun fit in with desis yet they dun fit in with the white/black ppl. now i say most becoz not all desi kids born outside of india/pakistan conform to this stereotype. i’m one of them
if u kno me at all, then u kno that.
anyway i’ve been to UK numerous times and i do find the ppl a bit arrogant and rude, but then i heard Brits have always been that way. dunno. that cud just be another stereotype. as far as the slang goes…u have that everywhere, not just in UK and yes i find it quite annoying and dumb. for example in america sooo may desi guys try to act black. they dress, talk, walk, and do everything as if they were black…that makes me mad.
yet u have to realize that they r just immature teens, they’ll grow out of it once they start becoming more mature. well there’s my 2 cents..

Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature

Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
can i ask where the Original term ABCD was coined :halo:
i belive it means AMERICAN BORN CONFUSED DESI
as far as i know and i may not know that much but this term was used in america long before it was used for other countries

.
Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
excuse me but where did the need for name calling come in?
Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
The game, I come to the rescue of all ppl whether they are pillocks or they are being attacked by pillocks, if the accusations are nonsensical.
Its interesting to see how fobs have a field day with abcds and bbcds, I out forth the argument that if fobs were such a god’s gift to the world then Pakistan would not be in the shape that it is.
P.S: as you would see I have posted aganst a certain desi group or two in UK on a number of occassions, but it was valid arguments, not that they are subhuman because they like to say innit…![]()
Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
It's always just a matter of personal experience. I'm a British desi living in North America, and I find the ways of North American desis to be odd compared to what I'm used to. here are some examples.
North American desis never say "innit". That's just odd. Canadian desis come close, with their occasional "eh", which seems to fulfill the same purpose.
They don't say "Easy bro" as a greeting, to put somone you're greeting at ease and convey that you view them as a friend. Instead, they tend to use such cold, neutral words as "hi" and "hello".
I'm having to train my Canadian desi friends to call each other "bitch", it doesn't come naturally to them for some reason.
They don't seem to understand how since being bad can be good under certain circumstances, that the conext in which "bad" is used can mean "good". Such as, "My car is just bad, man, innit" means that my car is incredible and I'm on love with it.
Informal expressions of thanks such as "Cheers mate", seem to be greeted as some delightful foreign quirk.
Countless other example abound. I need to make sure I move back to Britain whilst any kids I may have are still young, to make sure that they pick up proper behaviour!!!
Re: Desi generation of Britain.., the confused creature
Proper behaviour, eh?..yeah, u do that, b!tch! :-D Ignore the fobs..they just complain..They have no senses of cultures..those sons of b!tches.
