I never have this when I am out of Pakistan. But for some reason when I am home its like 3 am and what do I want to eat? Fried egg, toast with butter and desi chai. I will eat that for multiple days and it just never gets old. Another is the desi chai with Pakistani biscuits. Not chocolate chip cookies and stuff like that. Nope the stuff you get from the bakery that is distinctly Pakistani.

I can’t make parathas. 
For us growing up it was toast or white bread fried in oil/butter with a half fried egg. I actually think this maybe a 1980s diplobrat thing.

just call the toast double roti and you have got a desi version of it 
for me it’s usually the desi mithai .. gulab jamun, rass gullas and jalebis oh and the halwas aswell..

Try those frozen ready made parhataY - you just need two mins to cook them .. stick them on a non-sticking pan and flip around for a minute or two ..
To me they are okayish in taste .. and less hassle in making make them more convenient as a mid night snack :)

I thought we only made alooh andey :p but ur probaly talking about the salan, and yes bread roti style:P
my mom had recipe for breakfast style salt,pepper,and red pepper cooked till caramelized and egg added at the end...
sooo good i even adapted to making it with shredded hashbrowns, and patties lol me laziness...
that's wat i eat middle of night when i cravn it practically desi...
every once in while i fry up a somosa... but thats as far as i go :P

CM same menu for me, eggs toast, must be the era/experience in particular groups
My other fav desi comfort food is aloo parathay. Ammi makes a batch when she is over or I am visiting, my mother in law does the same, and I just munch on them as snacks.

Chai and pappay. Never get enough of it..
